Karl Rove is heinous and even he can’t stand it.

There are just so many things to be upset about… but each new thing is upsetting in its own uniquely upsetting way.
“Corrupted sensemaking”. Might steal that.
Dem words reach Dem voters through the hostile filter of MSM political reporters. They reach GOP voters through the hostile filter of Fox et al. They reach disconnected, "apolitical" Americans through the hostile filter of memes & TikToks & bro podcasters. Dems have no direct audience of their own.
The political theory behind IRA was roughly as follows: We have lost control of the information landscape and can no longer win rhetorical or purely political battles; however, if we make substantive policy progress that directly touches voters' lives, they will notice and reward us.
It actually fuckin happened... Alex is out walking her dog and another dog starts sniffing her hand affectionately. The owner of that dog says "oh wow! she doesn't usually like guys." Alex thinks to her self "thank you for gendering me correctly, noble beast." The dog thinks "you smell like my food."
“It is not the role of the judiciary to check the excesses of the other branches,” -Circuit Judge James Ho, A.A.R.P. v. Trump
Trump officials' showings at hearings today were disasters, but it doesn't make headlines bc the media's default assumption is that Rs are clownish rascals. But if Dems didn't know what was happening at their agencies or what habeas corpus is, it'd be front page news. This is a key media asymmetry.
FROM @reuters.com: Food rations that could supply 3.5 million people for a month are mouldering in warehouses around the world because of U.S. aid cuts and risk becoming unusable, according to five people familiar with the situation.

so the members of congress just stopped going to el salvador and not a single person who was illegally sent there has been returned and that’s just how it is now?
Corruption, vis-a-vis an official, is the dishonest use of power and position for personal gain. Trump’s launch of a memecoin for profit on the eve of his inauguration was corrupt even without any quid pro quo. In the same way, Musk steering govt contracts to his firms is out-and-out corruption.
Effective immediately, the government says it will begin screening immigrant social media for activity that officials think indicates support for antisemitism.
A man says "fuck it. I wanna be serialized. I'm tired of living comic to comic. I want to experience more. I don't want my eternally reviving body to be used for momentary vignettes. I want to be somebody." Another man says "Oh Gary, I don't think it works like that. We are doomed to nothingness after the next panel." Gary shakes his fists toward the heavens and shouts "NO! I refuse! My name is Gary! I deserve more life!"
What fun America is right now. We've a bunch of insipid lunatics running around the building knocking down load-bearing walls because it'll "open up the space" and now we're all just sitting here waiting for the fucking building to collapse on us.
I don't care what side of the Israel-Palestine conflict your sympathies lie on, snatching up people with a valid student visa for the crime of writing an OpEd is naked fascism and if you don't oppose this you are a threat to this country's most basic values
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.
They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

WOW: @miamiherald.com reveals that a person imprisoned in El Salvador had LEGAL REFUGEE STATUS.
He entered the USA legally in January and was detained because of his tattoos, EVEN THOUGH he had previously passed a full background check.
Without warning, he was sent to El Salvador on March 15.
Who could have predicted this other than everyone
Sometimes it’s worth pausing and recognizing when he puts a new straight-up impeachable offense on the pile
in honor of george foreman i am posting the greatest commercial ever for a grill
I hope Democrats learn from Merrick Garland’s mistakes and the failure of Obama’s “move on” strategy vis-a-vis Bush era war crimes, and understand that all these people ultimately need to go to prison.
It is human trafficking.
This likely confirms that the decision to arrest him was made at the highest levels of government, a terrifying return to the policies of ideological exclusion last seen used during the heights of the Cold War. A very, very worrying precedent at the start of this government.
What…
it’s not that this US administration has a different, competing version of what it means to do good. They know and even share our conception of good, and oppose it on purpose to make their enemies mad. Consciously, purposefully, gleefully evil.
“HELLO FREE PRESS WATCH ME EXTORT THIS GOVERNOR RIGHT NOW”
There’s not a word in this story about the corrupt nature of this dismissal. Not a concern voiced, not a question raised, not even an acknowledgment that he’s the president’s biggest donor and he’s acting as an unelected, unconfirmed tyro wielding unchecked power over spending and the civil service.
love when people perceive extreme wealth as some mystical leveling up you achieve when you accomplish jedi mind tricks in business and entrepreneurship when the answer is really just: be part of the system that hands shit out to people like you for free.
The graphic shows arrows going from 11 general agencies and institutions to Musk companies which include SpaceX, Tesla. neuralink, x, and Musk himself. The text at the top reads: Trump firings hit agencies with oversight of Musk's companies Staffing changes, including the firing of several top officials, have affected agencies with federal investigations into or regulatory battles with Elon Musk's companies. The graphic is credit to Malika Khurana for the New York Times
A historic graphic of corruption.
The 11 federal agencies so far targeted for firings or dismantling by Elon Musk have more than 30 ongoing investigations into his companies.
