true but tbh if he’s able to bring tiktok back without a mandate to sell, i’d let him have that win as a good thing for free speech. i think more realistically he’d bring it back by postponing the ban & keeping the mandate to sell, which bytedance will never do 🤷🏼‍♂️

a lot of people were surprised to see this messaging from the CEO but at the end of the day it’s a calculated move alongside turning off servers a day early. we’ll have to see how this plays out but the one thing i’m confident of is that they absolutely won’t be selling the app in the future

this choice in messaging directly puts trump under pressure to bring it back/postpone the ban

1. if he does, then tiktok is back; they’re never going to sell, even if it’s just a postponed ban, so it’s effectively kicking the can down the road

2. if he doesn’t, then he’ll take all the heat day 1
