Zoom hit it big during the pandemic. Past that there was nothing really special about the company. This is the phase where, being drunk on power it got too quickly, it attempts to become the leader it never really was by adopting half brained ideas from other newly powerful megalomaniac companies.

Scapegoating. Pure and simple.

Healthy accountability is triggered by evidence, points upward at power, and happens in public. Disordered accountability protects insiders and aims its punishment outward. What the document does is argue for the second while calling it the first.

I agree with this fully.

Pete Hegseth References Bible—But Quotes Violent ‘Pulp Fiction’ Speech Hegseth’s prayer closely resembled one delivered by Samuel L. Jackson in “Pulp Fiction.”

Emotionally a child.

🤔I know very little GenX that supports MAGA.

Don't you think that it is good that a neutral position is taken in admitting wrongdoing - and staying away from our tremendously polarized culture?

Mark, you agree that a lot of their findings are true - but immediately enter into (false?) factionalism and blaming. Why are you deflecting if you agree with the findings?!? It's like the strong brother admits he tortures his weak brother, and then turns around to give him a wedgie. Stop blaming!

In addition to chart, there are home prices that have gone up, subscription dark patterns, utilities going up, inflation, gas prices up... Not sure where things are 'illogical' (and sure I'll be eviscerated for asking 🫤)

Are we doing testing for radiation shielding? Nope. Artemis II is the first time humans have ventured beyond Earth’s protective magnetic field since 1972.

And fwiw - all sci-fi methods of producing gravity like rotation have never been done short of some very short lived experiments. A true engineer knows you might have to work out many kinks even if in theory it can work. Are we doing that research? Nope.

This is overly optimistic in that one can even get there alive...

Gravity itself is a huge problem. You would arrive and not be able to stand up. If you need proof, look at astronauts when they return from space for a year...

We live in a time of systems. Being a good worker for a system is unrelated to the actions of the system. Your cells are not voting together to contribute to your will, their purpose is to be a cell. You, on the other hand, can do what you want, regardless of your good (or bad) cells. 🙂

The USA is like the boy who cried wolf concerning impeachment. We have been throwing it around for so long - no one takes it seriously anymore.

Summary: The big tech giants are all drowning in epistemic arrogance. 😁

The place I work has never stopped hiring. Many WFH positions pre-pandemic, and post. The big tech giants are following their own ideology, which turns into an odd marketing of 'reality' - the negative on the horizon is dot-com bubble part 2 - not LLM singularity. Cult like doom thinking, sad..

10000 possible sources and this connects 3. Uhg. I'm lightly convinced that (good) news is so important that maybe someone finds a way to fund journalism, but not via readers. Sounds odd, but public transportation does this - MTA is only 25% paid by riders. Tired of pay walls!

Though you think you might be in disagreement, all considered, you seem to be in agreement. 🤷🏼‍♂️

The idea of "only bad people are there (on Twitter)" is a very Western—and specifically American—phenomenon. No one else is doing this shit...

If I remember correctly the record (downward spiral) was purposely created with really low vol and then really high vol tracks so that people would need to turn up the volume to hear the low stuff, and get blasted when the high stuff came along. 😁

Anti-war writers from Goodman to Orwell to Arendt all found the same problem: mediated communication converts moral energy into the feeling of having responded. The LLM perfects this. You walk away feeling you understood something. You didn't.

Anthropic's head of safety just resigned.

Most likely a protest against the company's pivot to working with Palantir and Gulf Arab states. The "don't be evil" stage gets shorter.

(I still think Anthropic is the most morally run of the AI corps but it's like cherrypicking rooms on fire.)

It HAS changed drastically if you know where to look. The Italian presence was a lot stronger, not to mention such clubs as Palumbo's.
