I think one of the things about love is that it often happens in absence of understanding. And I'd say seeking to understand is often itself a fundamentally loving sort of expression! A lot of love, maybe even all of it, involves a great deal of muddling through. Uncertain, but searching, trying.

I think the one thing that plurality makes the weirdest for me is how social/shy I might be at any point in time. sometimes I'm "hey we've never cuddled wanna cuddle?", other times I'm tucked silently in a corner behind some stuff and Observing

putting me in a very "can't really be trusted to handle my self as kindly as I ought to right now, but too worried that if I hand it off to anyone else I might die." place. which might sound a bit catastrophic! but by my definitions of self and the many kinds of death I fear, it's hard to argue with

it'll probably be better once I'm no longer drowning in the pressure of phd work! but this just leads to narrowing myself to the parts that do that work, and the feeling of atrophy for everything else. and I worry constantly that this won't pan out, or won't be recoverable! but what else can I do.

and since those things mean a lot to me, it means I don't like myself right since I'm not being who I want to be, and nobody else can really fix it. there's just this looming dissatisfaction with who I am right now, and no apparent way out except things I don't feel able to do.

feeling a lot like I've forgotten how to be any sort of likeable, lately. I know it's mostly nonsense, that the things I made myself so that I could be more liked mean a lot more to me than most others, but knowing is little salve to the feeling.

the nice thing about bad trips is they're decidedly temporary, which helps a lot (as long as you haven't taken so much you can't remember that)
and tbh where depends more on where YOU can feel comfortable and in control. I suspect you'd enjoy outside a lot! but somewhere to retreat to is also useful
