The struggle: I want to take a nap but my bed is full: two cats are napping.

can i offer you a nice new terry cavanagh game in this trying time?
By now I’m turning off the Slack ping noise, the sheer volume of stuff at work that leads people to ping either me or my team is driving me mad. The slack notification noise now has an inherent “oh what fresh hell has opened now” feeling and I don’t like computers causing that in me.
Birthday gift to myself arrived :3
An incredibly reasonable choice, all else aside. That it's considered one of the "paved paths" in music-software programming is, however, probably the biggest condemnation of the state of music-software programming I can think of :D
At one point I got so fed up with its bullshit, I rolled my own JUCE VST to build a thing because Max was being a pain and three halfs, to then look at what I'd have to reimplement from being max built-ins, and with the largest teeth-grinding I've ever done in programming, went back to Max.
It is however great fun and made me learn a bunch of stuff I'd never have touched otherwise. Just, if you haven't touched it, Max is... special. Very capable, not bad, just... lots of idiosyncrasies in UI and UX you'll have to roll with.
I *think* supercollider can do this? But I'm not sure that's any help, since SuperCollider is counter-intuitively extremely hard to make cooperate with anything. :(
All I'm saying is that after a while I ended up buying a book on VST development...
1. Buy screen from an online vendor.
2. Turns out that vendor listed it mistakenly, cancels order.
3. Buy screen from Dell directly.
4. Screen is out of stock and Dell tells me that it’ll be included in the next factory run, delivery date in about 1.5 months.
I just want a new screen, man.
I was getting ready to repost this because he mentions Tiffy and I am IN that fandom, but thEN HE MENTIONED MY VIDEOS! Such incredibly kind words - I can't even believe it. Thank you so much @eyepatchwolf.bsky.social 😭 Video is filled with incredible stuff!
My rather expensive screen is in delivery, but does not have tracking attached to the shipping number. 🤨
I would say that that is quite the rare achievement.
Wondering if I should attend SuperBooth this year, I guess it’ll mostly depend on whether or not I have other things planned during that time 🤔
Water loses volume ever so slightly as it cools, so the answer is yes, I think.

Started trying to write again, wrote about what I do every other Sunday now.
I'm trying to re-capture the spark now that made me captivated by the digital art format in the first place, tinted and shaded by the skills I've picked up in the meantime. It's hard.
Thank you for making the video, it has enriched my day/life. Take care, best of success in everything.
I went for the programming/engineering route rather than the digital-artistry route nearly entirely because there was no way I would be able to afford the software I would need. I don't regret it, but there is always a very large thought of "what if".
@endvertex.bsky.social Clicked on your video about creative software, ended up sucked into a vortex (vertex here, I suppose :D) for about an hour watching it start to finish. Amazing video, deeply relevant for me.
Me, settling in to do some woodworking: time to get the band saw~
Me, seeing the two sleeping cats in the office: time to get the saw... later~
As life goes on, my management solutions increasingly boil down to “write it down on paper and wrangle sheets of paper”, for all my digital proficiency
I’ll need to rearrange my desk a bit. For comparison, those are 27” screens. These are Adam Audio T7V monitors. They sound fantastic, in my not-that-educated opinion.
Old speakers died. Decided I’ll get some good speakers this time. Read comparisons, decided to get actual monitors this time. Price on Thomann was okay, so yeah, let’s go.
What I *did not* do was check how large they’d be. When the Thomann package arrived, I had a faint inkling of “oh no”.
Ahh, went to an office to pick up my new laptop. Entire office is a loft with no space dividers. ANC headphones are gonna get a good workout, then.
I have the need for a "how to learn meditation" tutorial, yet anything that I find that would vaguely match that I have an incredible distrust of.
Got a new saw that can effectively cut angles into thin plywood, so my shitty boxes are now prettier.
This entire hobby is very lovely for reasons of object permanence, wood doesn’t disappear when you turn off a computer. :3
Are you a person that listens to the Hotline Miami soundtrack whenever you need to get things done? Are you bored of listening to MOON's Hydrogen for the 594th time? Luckily for you, there is a game soundtrack for a similar game that similarly bangs extemely hard:

Just now realising that this year I will be unemployed for Advent of Code with a new job starting just after, this might actually be the perfect conditions to actually finish it this year.
Increasingly aware that I either get to be medicated for ADHD or drink alcohol if I want to sleep well at all and that’s not a trade off that makes me happy.
It's so janky, it's so mental, I can't fault it even though it has many faults, it's absolutely perfect, 10/10.
The resolution to the central conflict in EDF6 happens by pissing off Time (the entity) itself and annoying it into solving the problem. I have no notes.
I have come to the conclusion that the Earth Defense Force games are the perfect Bad Game, in that everything in it is The Room levels of off, from the copy/paste gameplay, to the absolute glue-eating competition, to the fact that EDF6 contains all of EDF5 and you can use a one-line mod to unlock it
