A poster for the book 'Widerlands'. It is a dark grey graphic of an irregularly coursed stone wall, with a green engraving of a stag peering around it. The text says: Wilderlands, on tour with Eloise Kane. There is a picture of me in the bottom right hand corner, I have brown curly hair. Anyway the dates for the tour are listed on the poster: 22 April Corsham Bookshop, Wiltshire; 24 April Folde Bookshop, Dorset; 28 April Waterstones, Bath; 5 May Heron Books, Bristol; 8 May Althorp Literary Festival; 14 May Hatchards, Cheltenham; 16 May Restoring Nature Literary Festival; 28 May Wild Fungarium, Edinburgh; 29 May The Book Nook, Stirling; 25 June Chalke History Festival; 9 September Script Haven, Worcester; + more dates to be announced.

So here is a thing, I'm going on a tour to witter about my book to real people! The first few are nice and local, before I get to go hang out with @catjarman.bsky.social at Althorp Lit Fest. Come and say hi!

Back-to-back Viking goodness. I loved @judithjesch.bsky.social’s new reworking of the Orkneyinga Saga - a great Introduction, excellent references, and very readable! Then @catjarman.bsky.social’s amazing River Kings - what a ride, what a journey! That little carnelian bead has my heart. 🥰

Reading River Kings by @catjarman.bsky.social and very much enjoying the picture of 200 Vikings trying to raid Paris for wine and being unsuccessful. NEVER GET BETWEEN THE FRENCH AND THEIR WINE, lads!

The Relocation of the Oseberg Ship Is Underway - Museum of the Viking Age Finally, the day has come for Norway's most spectacular moving project: The Oseberg Ship is entering the new museum building. This article will be updated regularly throughout the day.

At a breakneck speed of 0.008 knots (or 25cm/min), the Oseberg ship is once again on the move today, for the first time in almost a century.

An alpaca looking at the camera

Completely obsessed with these incredible animals. This is Andora, the most inquisitive of the four. There’s a lot going on in that little head! She’s food obsessed, but still a little too shy to eat from my hand. Getting there!

You can see our alpacas if you visit Althorp this summer!

I’m exceptionally lucky to have a wonderful network around me and especially Charles, who is the most supportive partner I could possibly hope for. ♥️

The topic of this year’s awareness week is #msconversations — it should always be your choice how and when you want to talk about your condition.

I was lucky to be diagnosed at a time when hard-hitting drugs had become available, meaning disease progression can usually be halted. But it’s still an extremely challenging illness to live with.

It’s MS awareness week and recently, @charlesspencer.bsky.social and I attended an event at the Houses of Parliament arranged by the MS Society. We were there to speak to over 140 MPs, Lords and MPs’ staff about the realities of the 150 000 people living with this devastating condition in the UK.

Student 1: “I’m only on chapter 1 and there’s a mass grave, a guy missing his *you know* and four kids that might have been human sacrifices .”

Student 2: “You ARE taking a class with Amy.”

(They’re talking about chapter 1 of River Kings by Cat Jarman)

Really excited for the Althorp Literature Festival 11-13 April. We have some fantastic speakers: my favourite is the wonderful Bernard Cornwell, who is coming over from the US especially for this.
There are still a few tickets available - please help spread the word!

Unsolicited writing advice, no: 73:
Stop calling yourself an "aspiring writer."
Just write.
Now, you're a writer.
Keep writing, reading, observing, learning.
Soon, you'll be a better writer.
