I have my issues with Carney, as others probably do, but this speech was the first deep breath of fresh air in too long. No nuance or capitulation. Finally, an honest discussion. Transcript here:

Isn’t the speech itself the act of taking the sign out of the window? He is leading the act of naming the unjust behaviour and calling for unified support. It is the exact kind of act that we have been asking for. We have been asking for him to take the big risk of defiance. This is the start.

Truth but the approach of hard on indigenous agreements/pipelines/austerity and weak on American relations/wealthy elite deserves the intense criticism.

Trump has created an open space where people can kill others indiscriminately. He doesn't have to order anyone. His (sycophants') carefully constructed institution is in place. When more of his lackeys see that there is no consequence, they will choose to kill on their own. We must stop every crime.

The more people successfully defended from legal action, the more ICE members are going to feel empowered to use force whenever they feel like it. Trump didn't need to tell people to kill. He makes those conditions possible.

The past few days had me thinking about how easily the US could strangle our economy. Imagine if their navy began a blockade—started seizing tankers. We need a Swedish style civil defence program now and not later.

I'm thinking about how shock value is a domineering feature of social media. The current radicalization of political parties, and individuals, is entirely a consequence of social media exposure. Legacy media was once a partial filter for extreme and offensive opinions, dictating a careful decorum.

Very awesome that America is working towards circumventing the Canadian oil market and economically strangling our country AND the CPC and Pierre Poilievre are cheering them on the entire way. Very Conservative. So concerned for our economy. 🙄
