I have a dyslexia diagnosis. I can read for comprehension, but reading out loud is nearly impossible for me. So that may be evidence of reading out loud happening in a different part of the brain.

In my area, Pittsburgh, construction union apprenticeships are still common. But they started to fall by the wayside as private, for-profit, trade schools came in. Now more fields are doing apprenticeships again often in conjunction with our community colleges and vo-tech centers.

I think it depends on what you mean by moving to the center. I used to be considered a centrist. These days, I appear to be quite closely aligned with the left. I don't think I've changed much. I would say that I'm a Scandinavian-style social democrat.
