I do not see the point in flying (usually) 1000s of miles and all the hassle to then just stay in a resort / compound.
Nor do I see the point of going to eg Mexico and not seeing Yucatan or the Gulf of California or Mexico City.
Weather excepted, there are plenty of nice hotels much nearer to home.
