I am hearing from my farmers interest in divestment from wheat in the northern plains (HRW & HRS) to oilseeds and pulses. Can anyone else corroborate this? Cheap Canadian wheat is to blame?

Minneapolis still showing advantageous spreads. Wheat guys, take notice. What is your DP cost? On-farm storage?

To be fair, nearly all farmers who grow corn could easily switch to yellow soy beans and soft red wheat as an alternative.

Ag guy here: the diversion from NA to SA, Brazil specifically has already begun. This will hurt corn, soy, and milo producers; the bulk of production in the US midwest. We are already uncompetitive with the Canadians on wheat too, which mostly goes to southeast Asia.

I manage a grain exporting facility in the US northwest. I have been a commodities trader, buyer, and marketer; almost exclusively working directly with the farmer for about a decade. I consider myself a farm-advocate and have a keen interest in farm policy at both the local and federal levels.
