Then again, there is a case to be made that computers haven't lived up to the hype either. They are essentially being used as recording devices to store data.

Yes, it's non-fiction. It's also quite readable πŸ“–

We're on the other side of the country so I won't be there, but John Pavlovitz will be at 7PM (Eastern time) next Saturday.
So if you're in the vicinity of Marion, NC y'all should check it out.

Both. I got rid of 'em. Cast iron for frying/saute, ceramic for boiling/steaming. It just takes practice. But then, I like to cook.

My elementary did not have a school library (1960s), but every class had a bookcase full of books (doubtless supplied by the teacher) we could "check out" in addition to the curricula. There was kind of a competition amongst us.

"I spent thirty years in that gap. Between how the books said it should work and how it actually felt to be inside it ... the messy, exhausting, human reality underneath [where] we do our work."

"So is "Six Lives and a Book" [by Charles Houghton] a glimpse into men’s true souls? Or just a bait-and-switch?
Read it and draw your own conclusion."

I think I will do just that, I'm intrigued. This just went on my already bloated TBR.
