Mother Mary is a frustrating watch. Don't cast Anne Hathaway as a Taylor Swift/Lady Gaga-style pop star and then put her in a vague, slow supernatural story.

The Plague, a fantastic psychological thriller about bullying at a water polo camp, is another film that's sadly flown under the radar here. It's well worth checking out, especially for the impressive newcomers Everett Blunck and Kayo Martin. On digital now.

Couture, starring Angelina Jolie in a deeply personal role, has been released on digital platforms in the UK with little fanfare. It's a shame because Jolie's excellent performance deserves to be seen more widely.

The Blue Trail is an unusual, genre-blending movie about a 77-year-old who rebels against her dystopian society's rules and goes on an adventure along the Amazon. It's refreshing, wacky and a bit of a mixed bag. In cinemas now.

To celebrate the release of The Blue Trail today, I spoke with writer-director Gabriel Mascaro about working with Rodrigo Santoro and Denise Weinberg, creating fake snails and shooting on the Amazon River. Read it here:

The Wizard of the Kremlin is a long, dry and dense political drama about a fictional Russian spin doctor (Paul Dano). The novelty of seeing Jude Law as Vladimir Putin wears off quickly, and I was very distracted by Law speaking in his natural British accent.

Josh O'Connor has been on a prolific run of late, and his next film, Rebuilding, is my favourite so far. It's a simple, poignant film about resilience, community and finding hope during hardship. In cinemas Friday.

Jim Jarmusch's Father Mother Sister Brother may have won the Golden Lion at Venice last year, but it is far too slow, quiet and understated for me. I wasn't a fan of this low-key triptych of family reunions, despite the top cast. In cinemas now.

Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page both deserve better than You, Me & Tuscany, which revolves around such a contrived, ridiculous story. However, it's quite charming, funny and beautiful to look at, so audiences may still dig it. In cinemas today.

The 'found audio' horror Undertone really creeped me out. The brilliant sound design makes this an unsettling immersive experience. It really played on my fears about things that go bump in the night around the house! In cinemas tomorrow.

I had a great time with James McAvoy's directorial debut California Schemin', a hilarious, entertaining film based on an unbelievable true story. Seamus McLean Ross and Samuel Bottomley are terrific together as the Scottish rap duo Silibil N' Brains.

The Drama, starring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya, is not a straightforward romcom about an imminent wedding. It is an uncomfortable, cringe-inducing comedy-drama about the fallout of a shocking revelation. In cinemas Friday.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is in cinemas today. The overall plot is weak and unfocused, but there are so many fun references and exciting, nostalgic moments that I still enjoyed it anyway.

They Will Kill You starts off really strong, with impeccable Kill Bill vibes, gruesome violence and Zazie Beetz kicking ass. But the novelty wears off pretty quickly and it totally lost me by the end. In cinemas today.

My film of the week is DJ Ahmet, a feel-good crowdpleaser featuring some laugh-out-loud moments, misbehaving sheep and a banging soundtrack. In select cinemas from today.

To celebrate the release of the wonderful crowd-pleaser DJ Ahmet, I spoke to writer-director Georgi M. Unkovski about making his debut feature, the film's banging soundtrack and working with non-professional actors and sheep! In UK cinemas from 27th March.

I highly recommend Splitsville, starring Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona. The "unromantic comedy" is hilarious and sharply written and features some memorable farcical moments. The film's lead, Kyle Marvin, is now on my radar. In cinemas Friday.

And here's my review of Lunar Sway, an offbeat coming-of-age story about a bored and directionless queer man meeting his birth mother. Noah Parker and Liza Weil are brilliant in this dark comedy, and I loved the distinctive location. Showing at #BFIFlare

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come isn't a patch on the original, but I still had a lot of fun with Samara Weaving, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Kathryn Newton! There's still plenty of gore and comedy, but the plot and writing aren't as strong this time. In cinemas now.

The Good Boy is a dark, twisted and unusual thriller with stellar performances from Stephen Graham and Andrea Riseborough as the unhinged captors. However, it's a bit too long and I would have liked more backstory. In cinemas Friday.

Contrived storylines and unrealistic character decisions are to be expected with a Colleen Hoover movie adaptation, and Reminder of Him is no exception. That being said, the family drama is interesting and Lauren Graham made me cry. In cinemas today.

How to Make a Killing, starring Glen Powell, is a dark comedy thriller that is nowhere near funny or thrilling enough. It has some good moments (shout out to Zach Woods and Topher Grace) but it's ultimately underwhelming. In cinemas today.

Zootropolis 2 is now streaming on Disney+! It doesn't quite reach the heights of the original, but it is another supremely entertaining outing with Nick and Judy. It works on different age levels - kids will dig the fun and adults will get its political messaging.
