and i’d like to say that my response was slightly tongue in cheek as i’ve tried explaining our idioms and colloquialism and how different language can be in different areas to new english speakers, it’s delightful laughing over the absolute absurdity of these weird things that happen with language

ok maybe it’s the texas in me but what is there to explain? it’s a simple colloquial conjunction to not waste words or precious time. this is why i love language … it’s something that no matter what we try to do we can’t stop the evolutionary nature of how we communicate.
