...my published material (around 9,000 words) since January. I didn't bother counting emails, drafts of reports, etc., obviously. -- Not having had time to finish and submit a single paper of my own since the start of the year, I will now go on a six-month+ peer-reviewing hiatus. (2/3)
I did some bean-counting and counted my written output for the past three months: 14,600 words in peer reviews (25 in total, including journal articles and proposals for various funding bodies such as ERC, DFG etc.), which is more than my own academic writing (14,400 wds), and way more than (1/3)
Maybe, given the Hungarian election results, one way to achieve regime change in Iran would be for JD Vance to fly there and pledge his political support for the mullahs? (At least this way one could test whether his 'kiss of death' works for undemocratic regimes too...)

It's been a productive week of writing so far: 4,600 words of carefully argued, reasonably polished prose, in 3 days. Too bad, it's been all for referee reports: for someone's PhD studentship, an overseas Research Council post-doc application, and a manuscript at a major Ethics journal... #philsky
That's an interesting fact about the making of the movie; it explains why the final scene feels a bit like an afterthought. Maybe "cathartic" is the wrong word here (though at various points in the movie I think the term applies, though maybe not to the film as a whole). Arrested catharsis, maybe?
Cathartic and bleak in equal measure, I'd say...
