Orson Welles once said that he didn't understand the idea of recording an audio commentary on one of your own movies. He thought it made more sense to record one on a bad director's movies (like IHHO George Cukor) so you could explain why it was so bad.

Are pizzas meant only for pizza lovers? What makes a quality pizza anyway? Would a pizza that crosses over to steak and lobster lovers necessarily be a better pizza than one that does not?
You won't find a better pan:
“Michael” is all rise — the ascension of a holy being to the top of the universe. The movie ends in 1988 with Jackson’s triumphant solo “Bad” tour, which is kind of like ending an O.J. Simpson biopic with him winning the Heisman Trophy".

Yes, Bright Star and Angel at My Table are excellent pics.
Does BLONDE count?
Gamers are such entitled shits. This is good clean uncomplicated capitalism. If you don't want to wait for the tarriffs to be taken away, then you pay extra. If you WERE to wait that would have added extra political pressure to end them.
This is the stupidest complaint as, if you follow it to its logical conclusion, it makes it impossible to criticize or dislike anything. It may make it impossible to truly love anything. The idea is very close if not completely overlapping with the concept of "objective criticism".
Have a 40 min to 1 hour commute both ways and I just have to say that "Robert Altman Super Draft" with @aduralde.bsky.social and @mangiotto.bsky.social really hit the spot. Very inspired to catch up on my Alty blind spots. (THE DELINQUENTS is actually on Amazon Prime!)
Good reason nobody talks about the first two segments. I have to say...
Like to say that it was the "happy dancing negro" racism resulting from the underthought race-bending that sunk this movie, but no. It's this. Sea creatures have to go through some heavy anthropomorphizing in animation before they become relatable. A live-action FINDING NEMO would be nightmare fuel.
Get 'em Neuman!!!
Six percent. Very rough though, so many forgettable movies that you're limited to.

Lukewarm take- prefer this to anything in the so-called "Disney Renaissance".
I saw a review on Breakfast All Day and it seemed that everybody just felt bad for him and didn't want to embarrass him any more than absolutely necessary.
I'm sorry, the Neo Geo is being re-released? #neogeo
LIFE AND DEATH OF COLONEL BLIMP obviously. Really want to see A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH, but its been really hard to find on streaming for some reason.
Well, every Scorsese fan knows all those things already. Yeah mostly what I got is that he really likes their movies.
That's what I'm talking about when I say "enthusiastic Letterboxd list". Doesn't really have an angle into Powell and Pressenger. Does give you enough of their movies and enough love toward them to make you want to see more of them though.
Actually I think it's funny how his music documentaries are characteristically terrific, but his movie documentaries typically break down to enthusiastic Letterboxd lists.
Just saw Derek Jarman's BLUE. No, I didn't like it. All that art is obstructionist- avoidant rather than confrontational of the subject. I'm sorry that I liked PHILADELPHIA a lot more. Also bemused, and extra sorry this is kind of true, that I rated it slightly lower than SURF NINJAS on Criticker.
Marilyn Manson's cover of The KKK took My Baby Away. His Sweet Dreams might be a bit overrated, but KKK Took My Baby Away is an atrocity.
THE DRAMA- Thought that it would deflate when it turns out that The Secret actually isn't all that bad. Examining why everyone reacts how they do, I think I understand that the real transgression is having an outsider (trauma, mentally ill, unpopular) penetrate their circle.
In this day and age! Speaking of which, the only way I know of to see SAMMY AND ROSIE GET LAID on streaming is from a VHS rip.
I actually thought he disliked it back in the Epinions days. That's when I first remember hearing he tried to learn Greek to read the Odyssey because he was making fun of how Antonio Banderas picked up languages in the movie.
So...ODDITY. Started out with disdain for how it depicted the mental health profession and then it unraveled for me from there. The "othering" of the mentally ill and the disabled isn't really offensive as much as just cheap. The "low-fi" of it all was a turn-off as well.
I spent a stretch working in the county jail and I'm not even fucking kidding, the break room was a SHRINE to this movie.
Kind of bittersweet I guess that my 2nd viewing of THE FOUNDER wasn't as emotionally devastating as my 1st. Saw it the day of the inauguration of Trump. It's compared to CITIZEN KANE, THERE WILL BE BLOOD, and THE SOCIAL NETWORK; but in this one Kane, Plainview, Zuckerberg unequivocally wins.
