"We must have compassion for those on the losing side" was the legacy mistake of the post civil war era and we are still suffering from it today

Yeah trans people should collectively be able to run months of constant ads telling the GOP to eat shit if Trump loses
I suppose I can behind this.
I spent five years writing about my favorite music. Honestly, my primary audience was my daughter. The journey of writing about it all was rather revelatory to me though.

I run the academy where we teach right wing influencers how to stand normally and these are my two best students. Very proud of them
AdmiralCrunch gave Power Grid a 1 too, so you keep prestigious company!
My ratings skew very high (at least I assume most people would see it that way) because the way I see it: why hedge on things that bring you joy?
With over 600 ratings I've given two 3s, one 3.5, and one 2 in all my years. I hated that 2 with the fire of a thousand suns, but even then it didn't get a 1 from me!
Bit messy because I'm prepping for a massive re-arrange, but I'm a sucker for space/space-adjacent games.
The rest of my collection is color coded or designer based, but space games get their own spot.
It's a whole thing. >.>
I slept on Blasted Wastes a long time because it *looked* boring compared to the other worlds. I'm glad I finally bought it though. It adds so much cool stuff. The enemies aren't my favorites, but everything else it brings to the table is pretty cool.
I love the vibe of Trederra, though keeping track of patrols is a little fiddly. Great encounters, enemies, and loot though. Minefields are cool too.
derelict ship remains my favorite, though.
The unpredictability of paints can be annoying. I have paints that have been with me since I started 2 years ago and I have paints that have dried up or split with just a few months of disuse.
Chrome has been getting consistently worse. It's kind of Google's brand.
death to generative language models. i am so tired of them. even when they were brand new it wasn't even that cool. i want the ai bubble to explode already so we can be done with this misery.
Back before I went full atheist I actually ran the youth group with my wife for a tiny Lutheran church in NC. 20 yrs ago or so. The board booted our amazing pastor there too because he taught love as well and had no fire and brimstone in his repertoire. That was possibly the final straw for me.
Fair points! I suppose my highest ranked games I consider "light" are:
Azul - 9.9 (my #15)
dixit - 9.3 (#34)
6 nimmt - 9.2 (my #40)
Vegas Showdown - 9.2 (#45)
Bottom of the 9th - 9.1 (#54)
Everything around them is at LEAST medium if not heavy...or at least hard to get to the table for reasons.
City of Remnants is a sleeper hit for me. It got reprinted as Neon Gods or whatever, but I'm happy with my og version. It's unique and weird.
As a former kid back in the 80s and 90s that read a thesaurus for fun, this makes me so sad I'm not even gonna bother to use a flashy synonym for sad. ๐
Yes! This is a hill I will die on. Kill big trucks!
Omg I have been wanting this to happen for years. It probably won't happen, but good to see it's becoming a bigger topic of debate.
Hey I finally got my thingamajigger! Honestly thought I'd be way higher. Hooray I suppose! Screw you, Elon.
Woo! Welcome Joel! I didn't follow THAT many people on Twitter, so always nice to see a new old face migrate over here.
21....that would be 2000 for me. And while there are some years where picking just one album would be hard. 2000 isn't one of them for me.
Poe - Haunted. By a mile.
Thurn and Taxis board game, published in 2006
Me: a nerd
One of my family friends is a test kitchen tech at Penzey's and I never knew until recently their very vocal politics! Pretty cool. I was just over here all "Ooh, free spices for Christmas!" >.>
I agree wholeheartedly. That chorus lives rent-free in my head. I was so excited to blurb about it in my Top 500 even though I only had a couple sentences of space to dedicate to it.
My Top 12 Board Games that don't get the recognition I think they deserve:
12. Lucky's Misadventures
11. The Godfather: Corleone's Empire
10. Covert
9. Aquasphere
8. Warhammer: Diskwars
7. Ulm
6. Historia
5. Dragonheart
4. Bottom of the 9th
3. Nightfall
2. Merchant of Venus
1. Elysium
Elysium or Lisboa probably. I really have to sub-optimize/play weird when introducing them to people so it's not a blowout.
On BGA, I guess it's dragonheart. 81 wins out of around 100 or something plays.
Wow this is my new favorite site. lol. I respect and share their apple passion!
