Hej då Freiberg — Hej Stockholm

This week I started as a PhD student in structural geology at the IGV at Stockholm University. I’m looking forward to the next few years and all the challenges that lie ahead!

That’s crazy … when I’m sitting in a cafe, I want my coffee in a real cup - It’s a way of showing mutual respect for the coffee, the cafe and the customer. But yeah, I think cultural differences. We are much nearer to Italy …😁

As a european it’s so weird to see coffee in a plastic cup. … where is the coffee culture?🥲

Wanting to stay in academia but having to switch to the private sector for a few months for financial reasons also means that:
writing papers will be a leisure activity from next month onwards and no longer a job...

Best way to procrastinate your Masters thesis: Doing statistics with your data, that you don’t need (but maybe you could 🤷🏼‍♂️)

Five things scientists can do to fight the rise of fascism. Access to trustworthy information is among the most important preconditions for safeguarding democracy.

The freeze of the NIH is just the latest culmination of the right's long war on science, education, and democracy.

Here are some of my ideas for what I think scientists can do about it. 🧪 conservechange.medium.com/five-things-...

It’s #ThinsectionThursday again!
Today I show you a mylonitic Amphibole-Mica-Schist (under PPL) from the Lepontine/Central Alps. I don’t know why, but I love this rock!
