Thousands of people who live in Birkenhead are being charged TRIPLE Council Tax by Wirral's Labour-led Council.
Council Tax bills for the lowest income households have gone up by £555 per year!

Only recently found out that my partner's uncle ran a short-lived club called The Lamplight Club in Wallasey that gave Elvis his first gig. He didn't know until Elvis mentioned it somewhere. Think he was about 15 at the time.
The pot on the left is a wonderful Portmeirion 'Magic City' pattern coffee pot from 1966, designed by Susan Williams-Ellis, the daughter of Clough Williams-Ellis, the designer and creator of Portmeirion, for anyone who doesn't know. They were a talented family.

The 1970 Rupert the Bear puppet series title sequence, but with Algy Pug replaced by Simply Red singer, Mick Hucknall.
Some actors capture an aspect of their historical moment. The combover, the knitwear, the wheedling and fussing - Brian Murphy was the absolute exemplar of a certain kind of postwar masculinity - the salaryman born slightly too early for the Permissive Society. RIP.

On a good day, though, he'd say, "I don't suppose you wouldn't mind pissing off?"
Some great evenings there. Remember it was in Hardman House before Le Bateau. I can remember going there in about 1995/96 to Hardman's.
Mad to think Steve Marriott played there only 6 years before. As much time has now elapsed from 1997 till now as remembering an actual 1960s club from 1997.

The Christmas edition of France’s Spirou comic from 1959 with its absolutely gorgeous seasonal cover by Eddy Ryssack.
He was so well connected at such a young age, wasn't he. I read his girlfriend, Suki Poitier, was unscathed from the car crash but ended up dying in another car crash 15 years later.
This is so interesting. Especially with the Tara Browne 'Day in the Life connection.'
