Been a while. Finally got my Portuguese plates for the Beat. Bonus: it happens to spell out four letters of my name in the exact order. The plates are assigned sequentially so this was a nice coincidence!

Hoping to change that. I ordered a 2020 S660 Modulo X in November. It'll arrive here in Portugal in a month as a little sibling for my Beat. 😁 I can't wait.

Simple line drawing of the shapes of the bones all lined up at the top, below the same outlines contained within a sausage shape. The sausage has a long nose, round eyes and a little mouth at the left hand end. Caption: SNAKE

Dug up some bones in the garden and I’ve tried to recreate what sort of animal they might have been from. Looks like some sort of snake most probably.

Long shot, but does anyone know of any retired/remote American Sign Language interpreters in northern Portugal open to occasional freelance work?

Anyone in northern Portugal (or in general) experiencing sinus infections lately? I've been fighting this sinus infection on and off for a month now and it's getting really bad. I'm waiting for an appointment with a doctor to be scheduled, but thought I'd ask here.

I remember that. Jews and queer people lived in Berlin because it was the place to be for them. Hearing them rattle off all the names of the progressive cities as targets for the ICE raids... sheesh!

It definitely feels very pogrom-like.

some other functions to this companion device.

The device would relay all the inputs to the phone.

This would have the benefit of prolonging the battery life of the phone since the display is the biggest energy draw.

It’s too niche for it to be a viable marketable product but I can dream!

I’ve been dying for a Sidekick-like phone. I’d even jump ship away from iOS for this.

Alternatively, I’ve dreamed of a “companion device” that connects to an existing phone wirelessly and has a screen + keyboard, so you could leave your phone in your pocket/bag, and it would feed the display and

Back in 2012, I had to have a tooth pulled because I was too poor to afford a root canal. Yesterday, I finally had the first stage of a dental implant done. They warned me that it would be swollen and sore for 3-4 days. It hasn't even been 24 hours and I feel fabulous even w/o pain meds!

A conversation from a text-based game reading:

feels face flush with embarrassment

Oh. Uh, my bad. Didn't mean to assume. Guess I jumped to conclusions based on stereotypes. Rich kids driving fancy cars and all that nonsense.

shifts uncomfortably in seat

Apologies for the ignorant comment. Insensitive of me. Clearly need to work on breaking free from biased thinking patterns. Judge less, listen more. Basic decency 101.

forces awkward laugh

Heh, solid middle class eh? Join the club pal. We blue collar plebes gotta stick together. Strength in numbers and whatnot. United against the bourgeoisie oppressors!

fist pumps exaggeratedly

But uh, yeah. Snacks sound good.

Going on vacation to Bragança this weekend since we can't leave Portugal just yet. (Thanks, AIMA... lmao.) I'm really looking forward to it.

And we have Keith Lee to thank for that! Glad he's okay, though. 😳

Likewise! 😊 I let my account get deleted a few months ago, and I kind of fell out of social media because of the move. Glad we're back in touch! ♥️

Project 2025 specifically mentions reducing the protections of the ADA, so that’s a possibility.

Honestly, I think he was experiencing some sort of psychosis. He wasn’t in his right mind at all, according to the report. They took him in for an evaluation instead of going straight to jail.

Facts. I now live in a whole different country with language and communications barriers and I can handle it just fine. 😁 “It’s not me, it’s you”, indeed!

I don't use BlueSky all that much, but now that it's gaining more traction, I'm going to try and use it more often. I look forward to meeting new folks here!

A shot from the bottom of Bom Jesus do Monte in Braga, Portugal looking up at the basilica from the stairs. The stairs are adorned in simple white walls with gray trim. Statues of regalia line the stairs. A large stone cross is seen in the center in an alcove. The sky is mostly cloudy.

Life in Portugal has been incredible. I've been navigating language and communications barriers as well as bureaucracy difficulties as my husband and I settle in here. It hasn't been easy, but it's a wonderful experience and I don't regret it at all!

A tiny red 1991 Honda Beat in a parking space by the beach in Vila do Conde, Portugal. The convertible top is down, and it is still sporting a Washington State plate reading "91 BEAT". The sky is mostly clear, with a few clouds in the horizon. Several cars are visible in the background of many European makes and models, each with Portuguese registration plates.

I often spend time on my 1991 Honda Beat, a kei sports car imported from Japan. It's my pride and joy; I've been working on it for three years, learning my way around and fixing it up.
