No-one ever thought slop machines like that were 'smart'. Not unless their education systems profoundly failed them. Even those behind LLMs know just how limited and low quality it is, but line goes up when they actively lie to the public while investors keep investing based on unfulfillable goals.

The Anti-federalists realised. Seriously, read the Anti-federalist papers and it's part bonkers, part prophecy. The constitution of the US has always been a weakness. 200+ year old document that hasn't, can't, and won't ever match modern mores as they develop? Poor design if you ask me.
The senile Felon I'm Chief may be an evil man. Unfortunately evil men do not act or get to leadership positions without legions of other people behind them. It may be convenient to blame the wotsit, but US folks need to remember every advisor and supporter is as much to blame here. It's systemic.
My FLGS have actively stopped stocking EvilHat books. They can't get hold of them apparently. Frustrating given that you're still the only folks who've done as thorough a job of an Accessibility Toolkit (which I asked them to stock).
As I say smaller publishers do it so it all feels like an excuse.
Sadly, you've made it impossible for those of us not in the US to back and get a good copy of the book. That kinda sucks, smaller publishers than EvilHat have managed it. Baffled why you folks haven't.
Unfortunately, the story goes back longer than Felon in Chief. Consider the AUMF and what that's been used for. It's not just Rep v Dem, it's not just the senile occupant of the white house. The US is rotten to it's very core and has been for a long time. Inevitable outcome of capitalist nation
AUMF 2001. Allows the executive branch of the USA to take military action against what they call 'terror threats'. Many USA folks are just too ignorant or uneducated to understand that it's still in force and has been used by Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden to justify some awful things.
I imagine that the AUMF will be their fallback. It's still in force from the GW Bush days, and no-one has managed to shift it. As long as they can claim Iran is a particular kind of threat the executive has that authorisation through the AUMF. Will you be working to repeal it?
I seriously believe that until more progressive parties learn that they have to try and address the very real local concerns which drive people towards prejudice I fear the extremists will continue to win. Ex: the DNC addressing the middle earners, ignoring poor folks in their 2024 party platform.
On the Hall of Shame today we have @BBC and @BAFTA Both organisations moved quickly to apologise for the broadcast of an involuntary tic, but not for the public misunderstanding, stigma, or harm that followed.
Look I know nurses earning £45,000 owning their own home who still believe themselves working class. I know folks on benefits who still consider themselves middle class. It's complex, but people here rely on outdated cues even now to define class. A nuance you've missed not growing up here.
I'm assuming you aren't British, because social housing norms as presented through 70s & 80s TV shows is largely where these concepts derive from. There was more social housing back then. Only Fools and Horses for example. There's more to it of course but high ceilings and bare wood signals middle
Private or Social Housing? 'cause social housing is vastly weighted towards low ceilings and carpets in England and Wales. I've lived in social housing most of my life. Laminate in all the areas I've seen is disallowed. Low ceilings almost entirely.
Honestly, I think it's that appealing to the middle class has caused a loss of appeal to the working class and poorest. Which explains why so very many of them have listened to racists, Reform and their ilk are the only ones appealing to that demographic. We need to appeal to the poorest again.
It's the carpets. In most of the poorer places - housing associations in particular carpet is the only flooring. You're often not allowed by terms of tenancy to install laminate, or have bare floors. So you end up with cheap, nasty, carpets. The high ceilings too indicate big expensive house.
The Anti-federalists asked this 250 years ago. But asking what the point of the constitution is plays into their (people behind the felon in chief) hands. They want to do away with the pesky constitution, and making people question it is part of the process.
The AUMF never expired. Short answer he sadly does if he can make the case it's about terrorism. USA folks are ignorant to their own democracy because there's been three democrat presidential terms since it was passed. So, yes in terms of US law it's legal. In international terms...well, kinda
Now consider *why*. This is yet another move where he says 'the silly laws stop us doing something good'. Before too long he'll have people agreeing when he says 'the constitution is making your life worse'. Then there'll be nothing to stop them ripping it up. I'm surprised how few people see it.
Are there any future plans for Nebula to develop their own solution like say an old style forum which would be entirely in Nebula's control, rather than rely on Reddit?
Can you tell us who the illustrator of the picture is please? A little concerned that it's looking similar to the latest LLM/AI slop trends. I no longer support companies using such tech so it would be a motivator for cancellation.
If however, being one nation indivisible is the highest priority then (again imo) the US needs to sweep away this patchwork of laws, jurisdictions, and regulations that cause so much friction. Personally, I think states being countries and the union being like the EU is the way to go. 3/3
This half-and-half construction of states and federal government tends to chafe on populations - just ask the Scottish or Welsh. In my opinion, the USA needs to choose. Is it a collection of nations, or is it a single nation. If states are to be sovereign then the federal system needs scrapping. 2/3
I mean, it's not like some of the critics of the constitution didn't warn you all. The political structure of the USA is a mess which is uniquely prone to this kind of issue. Perhaps the closest other example is the EU, except that the EU is a collection of nations. Therein lies the issue 1/3
I'm trying to rebuild my personal website. There's poetry, thoughts on gaming, Theatre, and a blog over there. Today's post is a poem: martintheactor.co.uk/the-wonders-...
...and showing that business owners are ignorant to realities this news piece. Schools and the NHS do not have the money to hire all these folks. That's before we even account for the fact that these jobs are vocations. Not everyone is suited to them. www.telegraph.co.uk/business/202...
And that's all after the months of waiting, being put on hold, having to answer every unknown number so that you get the date of an assessment that you can't reschedule and are punished if you can't make. The waiting pushes people into a survival state, which deepens depression and anxiety responses
Given how corrupt FIFA is known to be I doubt it'll happen, but it does go without saying the world cup should be moved to a different host nation or cancelled until a new nation can be prepared.
What I wish US folks would do is abolish the idea that their politicians need such levels of security. ICE reportedly is to provide security to US 'diplomats'. Well, those people are just people. A country's leader shouldn't need a motorcade or armed goons. Not if they are of the people.
