An article I've written for @artsprofessional.co.uk about the relationship between culture and mental health.

The Weight of Being is open at Two Temple Place until 19th April.

Just listened to today's show on catch-up. Wish it had been live as I'd have called in for the last hour. Can I mention this? Covers lots of the factors you and callers mentioned, through art:

The exhibition I have worked my socks off on is now open 🙌🏻

If you've any interest in the universality of mental health and how artists depict this in their work, give it a go!

Free entry and on until 19th April

Absolute belter of an episode on the hard right showing signs of fragmenting. The more Farage tries to present as "mainstream" the more he looks like an establishment traitor to his core bigots and the more Reform looks like a care home for bitter Tories to everyone else.

AND I AM SO HERE FOR IT. 💅🏽

Installing an exhibition this week that is the culmination of two years work. And quite prescient, as it turns out from my current mood

Same here. I like to think that 10% are idiots and the other 90% are bots.

Are you suffering with a slight dose of the fear about heading back into the office tomorrow?

Take a deep breath, relax, and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the Irish landscape for a moment.

The Power of the Original: Why Seeing Art in Person Changes Us In the run-up to The Weight of Being, I’ve been reading new research about what happens to us physically when we stand in front of an original artwork.

Some thoughts on the recent research that seeing art in person improves our wellbeing (who knew?!)

I really love this Vincent Van Gogh quote:

"To do good work one must eat well, be well housed, have one's fling from time to time, smoke one's pipe, and drink one's coffee in peace."

No romanticizing the starving artist. Van Gogh said UBI all the way.

Whats on your mind mate booklet – Hartlepool Borough Council Hartlepool Borough Council aims to provide high quality services that meet the needs of local people.

Oh and they made, and distributed, this! www.hartlepool.gov.uk/downloads/do...

Popped copies in barbers, at car shows, pubs, docs surgeries etc - anywhere a man might pick it up and identify with what they're saying

But now they're 100% comfortable, have been creating their own art and are halfway through a six-week creative writing course.
Kind of the opposite of what you're saying - meeting them where they are - but it has been amazing. 2/2

Absolutely. For around 18 months I’ve been working with a group of lads from Andy’s Man Club, using the work of John Wilson McCracken (an artist in our collection who struggled with mental health).

Most had never set foot in an art gallery before... 1/2

"research shows she would be wise to"
That pretty much rules it out then 🙄

because nobody else seems to be saying what he is saying with such gusto. I'm probably more aligned to Ed Davey but Zack is pretty inescapable at the moment. Definitely the anti-Farridge 2/2

The way you put it here Alex, is pretty much how Lewis Goodall put it to Zack in an interview I listened to yesterday. Left-wing populism is how he described it. If the definition of populism is saying whatever it will take to get you elected then that's bad. However, I feel drawn to Zack 1/2

"It looks cool"
"Does corpse have an 'e'?"
"Nah"
"Is her name spelled correctly?"
"Yeah"
"You've not left enough room for 'Edinburgh'"
"No probs!"
"How are you spelling 'her'?"
"Erm.."
"Should 'children' have a 'g'?"
"Absolutely!"

Special Envoy Steve Witkoff

@SEPeaceMissions
I would like to acknowledge the vital role of the United Kingdom in assisting and coordinating efforts that have led us to this historic day in Israel. In particular, I want to recognize the incredible input and tireless efforts of National Security Advisor Jonathan Powell.

No, thank you! You've even made me bite the bullet and arrange a winter solstice sunrise trip to Castlerigg - I've wanted to do it for years.

That sounds like a great approach! The quality of the writing makes it easy to imagine you're there - at any of the points in the history of these sites.
