Part 2 of my 3-part series for #SteelRift Intrasolar Operations!
Here I fan-fic'ed some lore for the inner solar system to give you ideas of how to fight over other worlds. Next week is the outer solar system.

Part 1 of my #SteelRift series on combat in the solar system!
The C&C list builds are delayed until the Hangar gets updated.

Family responsibilities today that I forgot about, so this week's article may be delayed.
QizilbashWoman 3 years ago Morgan is really transphobic (he got banned from basically all public sites for it, like twitter), which frankly floored me given his "the body is a sleeve" writings; I was not surprised to learn he also can't talk about women. 10 upvotes
Well... I learned something about who's doing the lore for the Firestorm: Armada reboot.
I won't be making content for Firestorm: Armada anymore. Damned disappointing.

This easter, I wrote an article about killing gods who come back from the dead! To be fair, they started it. God, I wish #AT-43 would rise from the dead, too.

The focus will be on the look & feel of the Tiberian Sun/Firestorm era, but set in an alternate timeline where the Tiberian Dawn Nod campaign victory is canon.
This'll allow me to pull in any elements of C&C:3 that I really liked, and vary the GDI/Nod Arsenals to better fit a table-top experience.
The work I did on a custom Steel Talons faction for Steel Rift has really made me crave a proper #Command&Conquer table-top wargame. So I'm going to make one.
Earlier this year, I was writing rules for a 6mm version of AT-43. But I'm switching settings, and will be using those rules for C&C now!
Really helps if I put the link in the post, doesn't it?
And I did notice I'm using the old rules for Howitzers. I'll get this list updated once the Hangar gets updated.

This week's article is on converting the Steel Talons from #Command&Conquer for use in #SteelRift by @deathraydesigns.bsky.social
BattleTech was fun. I've enjoyed how visceral and detailed the events of a battle could be. But it was never a great fit for me as wargames go, and the new initiative rules have turned me off the game as a whole.
This is probably my last BT article.

I see Sora and a couple other AI projects have shut down recently. Can't wait for the rest to die.
I need a mug to collect prompt engineer's tears for once they complain they have to write their own text and draw their own art, or pay commissions again like normal people.
I'm starting work on a modular tile set of terrain for #BattleTech Alpha Strike and #SteelRift. While that's not really a 'mech design topic, would people be interested in me documenting the process on that?
This week's #BattleTech design article is a little different! Instead of doing a deep-dive on a specific system or set of components, I thought I'd demonstrate how I put all this knowledge together and show-case one of my favorite builds.

Someone just liked this post of mine. And then I realized I made it 2 years ago and now I live in Western Australia.
Oh no... now I've got lots of UV and dry desert air! That's 2 out of 3!
Ohmygod. Why didn't anyone tell me dry-brushing gives you that same high you get from power-washing your driveway?
Admittedly, it's a day late again. But hey, it's free, right?
This week I did a general review of the various types of armor available to the Inner Sphere. At the end of the article, I take a few jabs at armors I thought were useless.

Had a health issue today and spent about 4 hours in the ER, so I'm delaying this week's article until tomorrow.
A huge pile of shiny foil, a model kit nobody wanted, bits of an egg carton, lots of empty toilet paper rolls, and stacks of cardboard.
Me: "You don't need to hoard all this crap. Why don't you throw things out?"
Also me: "Ohhh I can make so much terrain for BattleTech and Steel Rift with these."
The #BattleTech article is a little late this week, and it is a smaller one after some of these big projects I've written.
This one focuses on how to get the most bang for your buck out of tons of ammo!

A downed Kuritan Phoenix Hawk with an explosion coming from its right side torso against a backdrop of blueprint paper. Along the bottom of the blue and white paper are the words "MISSION KILL" in white.
Okay, I know the Engines article got skipped a few weeks ago because scope creep killed it. So... you'll never guess what happened to my article on Mission Kill.
This was going to be a deep dive into mitigating critical hit risks, but I'm running up against the same problems with Engine stats.
It's late, and it wasn't what I planned on this week, so there are some rough spots. But it turns out XL Gyros are pretty good at saving weight and Compact Gyros are one of my new favorite pieces of equipment in #BattleTech!
avernus-labs-rnd.beehiiv.com/p/on-balance
I've spent 7 hrs on an article comparing how much armor you save in #BattleTech by going faster.
What I've learned is this: speed and engine mechanics in BT are miserable to analyze.
I'm shelving it, and delaying this week's article. Tomorrow, I'll post one on Compact Gyros & Compact Engines.
I had the day off for dental work, so that means I've got this week's #BattleTech article done a day early!
This week I explain why Narrow/Low Profile is shit and how you can fix so people stop saying "Actually, let's not play with Quirks this time."

Finished this last night, and it was definitely twice as long as something I should have written.
Oh yeah. Sure. I'll just write a #BattleTech article on the Defense Onion.
4,000 words later...
This is double the length I'm supposed to be aiming for with these articles, so I hope people enjoy it!
avernus-labs-rnd.beehiiv.com/p/the-defens...
A BattleTech Defense Onion with a Shadow Hawk painted in Crucis Lancers colors at the heart of the onion. Text across the top says "Don't Be..." The layers are, from outer to innermost: There (blue circle) Detected (teal circle) Acquired (green circle) Hit (yellow circle) Breached (orange circle) Killed (red circle)
The #BattleTech Defense Onion and 'Mech equipment article is coming along nicely for this week, but I did waste 3 hours making this graphic for it first. So it might release a little late today!
New #BattleTech design article! This one is on Artemis IV and Apollo FCS systems plus a surprise bonus tech...
...which won't be a surprise to anyone who's seen me build 'Mechs.

I think it's still Friday for most of you, but since I'm in Australia this is my Saturday. I think I'd like to move my releases to about now-ish going forward since I do work Fridays.
ANYWAY! Have a #BattleTech essay on Internal Structure

No post this Friday because I've had some medical issues come up, which have disrupted my whole week. Hoping to get it together by next Friday, and I'll be able to post a full ttRPG rulebook FOR FREE that has years of play-testing behind it.
