New Australia Institute research shows that the Japanese Government makes more revenue taxing Australian gas than the Australian Government!
"They're taxing our gas. There's no reason we can't."

It clearly is.
I will likely buy a China made EV soon but the first 12 pages of the brochure for the car is full of marketing BS with the important specs in small print on the last two pages.
Beware marketing.
While more predictable, China can be pernicious and has punished Australia for our government's actions - e.g. Morrison's call for COVID investigation triggering trade warfare.
I don't think China is our mate.
Good news
Konrad Benjamin nails the root of the problem: to stop large industries from ripping us all off, politicians need to stop “going to work in the industries that they literally wrote the rules for”🔥
Rules that as Dr Denniss points out, see gas co’s “pay more in PR than PRRT”💥
As the govt weighs options to raise revenue, balance the budget & confront the global energy crisis, one solution is staring them in the face: replace the broken PRRT with a fair tax on gas exports. It's long overdue, and has widespread support… www.abc.net.au/news/2026-04...
Correction - it should be @punterspolitics.bsky.social
Thank Dr Denniss for speaking on behalf of those of us who want to stop the fossil fuel industry free ride.
Thank you @punterslounge.bsky.social for speaking on my behalf 🙏

According to motivational posters, anything is possible.
Are you rare or well done?
Assuming he wants the job, can he be voted in as the next PM of Australia?
I doubt he deigns to stoop to reading pleb skeets.
Even Dr Seuss couldn't have come up with such an absurd situation 😵💫
It is beyond evil if thousands of people have and will die because Trump wanted to enrich his cronies.
I wonder whether APSC knows or cares that their preference for secrecy erodes trust in government and democracy?

Amy explains the loophole the Australian govt has resisted closing regarding fossil fuel windfall taxes.
The govt needs to stop shackling us to the US
That successive Australian governments think that giving away or resources for almost nothing is mine boggling.
It seems the politicians care about getting cushy post politics jobs for themselves more than the well-being of the electorate.
A friend has had one for a year and has had no problems.
I've had my BYD Atto 3 for 3.5 years with no quality issues.
Albanese was so proud of this world first legislation and spread the news far and wide.
He was warned that it wouldn't work but of course he knew better.
Ditto
My observation in general, is that Australian governments make statements that they care, but rarely live by their statements.
Amen 🙏
