Also seems like convenient timing for distraction.

Please, take some beauty.
Too hard to watch the evil growing, without responding in my own way.

My 40ish year old Maples are having their sexy times all over my lawns. Nature is beasty.
Love them.

The explosion of foliage from this Salsify. Nature's Architecture at it's finest.
Toaster and homemmade sandwich-length loaf of bread, waiting to be sliced.
First slice of bread, parting the center of the homemade loaf.
The loaf pan, the mega super extra loaf pan.
Hommmmmmemade bread for days.
Is this my life...? Is this just fantasy...?

A stylized photo of a homemade loaf of bread, on a black fabric cloth, with a light bluebird colour on the wall behind. Bread is shiny amd smooth. Loaf pan resting sideways beside it.

Anyone else doing photoshoots for the bread when it comes out looking so sexy? No? Just me?
Oh.... ok.
Let me get back to it then.
I fear somedays I may be an 80 yr old in the body of a 40yr version.

Saw this today, made me giggle, thought I'd share. Although, imho, even Steven wouldn't do this kind of suspense.
This kind of foreboding, sinister, painfully slow evil... this dumb, inept, almost accidental con... that would be below Steveo's standards.

My mom's handwriting at 78 years young.
Essential Tremor has given her a bit of zigzaggy to her curves. She diligently saves me seeds because she knows I love to garden. Sometimes viable, sometimes not so much.
Wish me luck, seeds going into trays.

Pureed some fresh Vidalia onions, and added garlic and freshly ground chile. Made my usual recipe, but subbed out half the water for the puree. My house smells delicious today.

View of Itohan, on stage. Two young women, dressed regally and standing tall and proud singing into microphones. Their drummer sits to their left, and their pianist to the right. Moody purple stage lighting.
Had a lovely night out tonight - Rock Trout Events brought in Itohan. Amazing singer, with a voice that will leave you a little breathless and feeling drunk on adrenaline. ITOHAN.
Amazing. And I spent the evening with three beautiful sisters that I admire deeply. Truly blessed today.
Some homemmade multigrain, with figs, apricots, and cranberries added. Makes for some lovely toast with cinnamon spread.
Dessert for breakfast, anytime.

Close-up photo of green lentils and red lentils.
Overhead pov of a large mixing bowl with different varieties of milled whole grains and seeds (sorghum and wheat germ, chia, poppy, lentil, wild rice, jasmine rice).
Photo of a kitchen counter with various baking products arranged to cool off. Two loaves of cranberry/apricot whole grain bread, about a dozen mini rolls plain, and a pile of 50ish deep fried and iced mini donut bites.
A small row of baking cups full of small glazed donut-bites in each one. In the background is a large heap of donut bites on parchment paper, cooling down.
#Canadian #lentils add some beautiful colour and texture to my donut-bites.
In my mixing bowl, a fine arrangement of colourful seeds and grains, making these donut-bites healthier than the coffee shop version.
Does that justify eating all of them? We shall see....
Aww.
This is heartwarming.
Me in my 40s trying to remember something later: "Oh, I'll just email myself"
Me later: "Holy crap, why so damn much email, I'm not reading all of these."
Found another lovely tune today... I'm so thankful for the cool tech that allows me to explore the world through music. Growing up in the 80s, I always felt like I had to dive-deep into each artist and become obsessive. I'm enjoying just perusing tracks at random.
Top down photo of the inside of a clear jar showing a glut of leaves and blooms soaking in hot water.
Side view of a small clear jar with amber red liquid and a thick layer of vegetation/tea/blooms at the top of the jar.
Yarrow, dandelion, fennel, anise, black tea.... putting the alchemy back in my tea today. Needing the extra from the good earth.

Freshly sliced homemade loaf of bread, lit up golden and yellow and brown in the morning sunlight, resting on a cutting board scattered with crumbs.

3.5 c flour, 1/4 c sugar, 1 tbsp yeast, 1.5 c warm water, 1/4 c veg oil, 1 egg, 1 tsp salt.... recipe scrawled in fading pen on an old scrap of holiday notepaper. Along the right side are quadruple measurements for large batches. Family fave.
As a #frugal person and as someone who values #homesteading knowledge.... I sometimes have these moments of gratitude, and this is one of them. Baking, slicing, and preparing my week's worth of loaf. Recipe is needing a rewrite soon. Lol

With the way actual history is being scrubbed from the internet with zest.... I wonder if one day my childhood encyclopedia sets will be the long-lost tomes of ACTUAL history.
Charcoal and fine line drawing of a woman wearing a headscarf, face lowered, crying or weeping, with a halo of barbed wire above her.
Very talented young artist gave this to me the other night. I fully expect her name to be headlining a gallery one day.
