Today, I met with a group of Family GPs and Psychiatrists. Three discussion themes stood out:

1) regulation strategies for people with neurodiverse traits
2) approaches for attachment injuries and/or serious mental illness
3) mechanisms of neuroplasticity

What do you think? #bluesky #mentalhealth

Post surgery update - I'm back in action! Still a few weeks/months for the full heal, but I've been able to resume exercising which feels great (and is restoring my sanity).
Hope everyone had a great holiday season and new year!

Surgery on Friday the 13th, what could go wrong?
Everything went well and I'm now in recovery. Time to practice what I preach - good rehab effort!

If, as a client, you are seeing a therapist who you feel doesn't care about you, then it likely won't be helpful. Sorry this guy hasn't found his right match, I'd probably send him towards some David Goggins resources. We meet people where they are at, not where we expect them to be.

Rather than the interpersonal domain, what considerations should be made from a purely structural or sensory perspective? For example, lack of accessibility and inclusion is invalidating - stairs for people who use wheelchairs. Or a bright and cheery office while treating someone quite depressed.

Seriously! The same people who don't want anyone doing anything to their bodies have no problem forcing, or preventing, bodily interventions onto women. The hypocrisy is unreal. Dudes gotta step up and do better!

Video editing is a new skill I've added to my entrepreneur bag. I want to showcase the amazing work of my therapy team - and my DIY spirit is still strong!

Do you have any quality of life or AI tool recommendations?

Much appreciated, thanks! ๐Ÿ™

I think it helps both clients and therapists - nice catch on my language, it stems from my mentoring work ๐Ÿ˜…

Kind of like how children explore their world, experimenting is part of experiential learning and growth. Trying things out and seeing what fits can be empowering.

Thank you as well ๐Ÿ™

This makes a lot of sense - shipping people away from their natural support and community to "help" them is backwards, a lingering vestige from the era of asylums and madhouses. The healthcare community knows better, but lack of investment for modern facilities means relying on old institutions.

"If an intervention doesn't work, it's an assessment." This is so helpful to take the pressure off. Growth works needs us to be present and deliberate, our effort shouldn't be measured as failure.
