Does this mean the #Royals will get a branded tie-in with a cringey Hallmark movie a’la the Chiefs or do they have to win 3 titles in quick succession first?

The #Royals being direct neighbors to Our Lady of Sorrows is a little on the nose.

They are sooo incompetent at land development. No strategy, no clear vision. The city has tried to direct them towards workable sites and they careen away for no apparent reason. Sherman looks like a buffoon wearing his ass for a hat.

The Royals team seems to be remarkably bad a land development. They’re like a bad improv comedian yes-and’ing the city with jibberish that no one asked for or wanted from a stadium project.

A photo of a tray with three sections empty. One has chopped carrot in it. The other has what can only be described as a posit of brown dog vomit and an insole liner of a sneaker (or a used panty liner from the mid 1700s). The kind of meal that would have you happily tossing yourself overboard.

NEW: Growing fears of food shortages on USS Tripoli & other US ships in the Middle East.

This photo is the kind of meals now being served. It was sent by a sailor to her family.

Families are now trying to send food parcels to the ships.

Trump truth social post: A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!

Sickeningly evil. Donald Trump must be impeached.

When will it be enough for my Republican colleagues to grow spines and remove him from office?

Donald Trump is an unhinged warmonger and war criminal using violence for personal gain and profit, while innocent people pay the price.

Congress must reconvene to pass the War Powers Resolution. The 25th Amendment must also be invoked. Congress has to do our damn job. War powers and Impeachment.

Not KCMO, but there was an old one-room school house at 135th and Mission in Leawood that was moved to Ironwoods Park.

Angels Stadium, while not a concrete donut, doesn't have any stand-out mid-century architectural elements (unless they were all removed during renovations at some point)

...and only the 2nd mid-century design to get it right. Dodgers Stadium and Kauffman are the architectural jewels of an era most known for the multi-sport concrete donuts. I favor downtown baseball for many reasons, but not enough is being said about how great the stadium itself is.

you're using your institutional authority to delete the civil rights of 340 million people and install Trump as a king? okay, the next president, if there is one, is changing the locks on the Court building. those are the rules that you people established

Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”

The behavior of our big beautiful billionaires over the past several decades is psychologically what I can only describe as "Crying out for consequences." They can't stop themselves and deep down they need to be stopped. They need it as much as we do

Streetcars need priority.

In 1929 the Kansas City Public Service Company operated 743 streetcars along 318 miles of track. It also operated 76 buses serving 57 miles of bus routes.

My niece is turning 10 this year and is learning guitar, so my wife and I got her a discman and made her mix-CD’s. How’d I do?

No, of course not, and I don’t think it’s responsible journalism to make so much hay out of it. Crime has been going down in KC according to official metrics and this nonsense inflames the viewpoint that city-dwellers are somehow under siege by super criminals. It’s absurd.

That’s awesome, I was doing some of that cross-referencing as I explored the galleries. I’ve always enjoyed digging through the Stars digi-copies and it’s great that we can see the photos in their original glory now.

If you're curious, a similar park was designed by the Eldred/Rocha pair at 30th & Cypress, though, only the stone-in-concrete elements remain intact. This one barely dodged the path of I-70. I'd love to see a return to experimental playgrounds, the out-of-the-box plastic things are so un-inspired!

Foreground: eight boys playing roughly, perhaps american football or soccer. Background a unique park of earthen forms, stacked tree trunks and concrete-cast stone forms.

2/4 First a group of boys playing at a park designed by Cal Eldred and Elpidio Rocha used to exist at 27th & Madison on the Westside. It was demolished to make way for I-35. A print of this photo should be at every Reconnectting the Westside meeting as an example of what was lost and what could be.

Note how they shuffled the baseball business ops guy, Brooks Sherman, into head of real estate. Despite the fact that he's the one that mis-managed the whole "east village or NKC.... actually no, the crossroads, please give us money?" debacle. 2/2

3 months ago 0 0 0 0

Sherman doesn't know what the fuck he wants because he and his team are really dumb about real-estate. They suffer the same delusion as most rich folks; more money than brains, oblivious to what they don't know. 1/2
