You HAVE to give it up to whoever invented the candle. Like truly one of the top five “There HAS to be a better way!” people in history

Tomato candles are the best scented candle, still: aftermath.site/tomato-candles...
Two freshly throne vases that look like potion bottles in a reddish brown clay, sitting upon a pottery wheel in the studio
i have been very busy in the ceramics studio making bottles for my boyfriend’s gatorade, but at least there are still core candles and some “vintage” items at bugsrock.online/shop available
i only have 2 lavender smokes in periwinkle glass left 😱
wick mushrooming is buildup of carbon - fortunately it’s harmless, unfortunately i have not *yet* figured out self-replicating candles.
A photo of three small flowers one in my hand that I carved out of beeswax and most of the wax is like an orange-yellow color except the tips are highlighted more yellow.
carved some flowers out of beeswax today. i poured a little yellow wax in the molds then added hot pink dye and poured the rest to get the highlighted tips. scientists call this the guy fieri effect
photo of a wick test i am recording of a spherical candle i painted (with wax) to look like a greenish blue eye. the candle is in one of my blue/brown glazed ceramic pinch pots
goodness gracious eyeballs on fire
*next week* (hit submit too soon bc a dog barked suddenly on the train and it scared the shit out of me)
we have a blizzard happening in nj/ny tomorrow which will probably impact shipping times ne
I got my @bugsrock.online candles and the smoky lavender is pretty awesome. I love the "heavy" candles like that and mixed with the lavender it just really is nice in a big room especially. I am picky with candles and very pleased.
@bugsrock.online The candle enjoyer has logged on. (And the cup is *so* fancy.)
A photo of two candles on a green backdrops surrounded by amethysts, strawberry candies, a dish filled with green-tipped matches, and a green chrome 20 sided roll to 11 because my birthday is on the 11th. The candle on the left is a green two-tiered cubic pillar candle with a handmade terrazzo-like style green pattern on the tops of each tier. on the right is a periwinkle glass with white wax candle called lavender smoke.

literally what my candle-making station looks like with all my wax pieces
candle science (one of my suppliers) just started a new program where shipping costs are tiered by invoice total and it ROCKS for someone like me who doesn’t make 500 candles at a time
this is why it takes so long to get new candle sculptures on the site, even this third iteration of my tomato candle - so much wick testing for every design change 😌
a reddish clay cylinder cup made on a messy pottery wheel, before I transported it to a board to dry
had my first wheel breakthrough today
today i am making tomato candles 🍅
this pour from yesterday came out way smoother, i didn’t need to fuss with the heat gun nearly as much as the first batch. today i am pouring the final batch for the launch, but at an even cooler temp to see what happens
photo of some candles curing in periwinkle glasses and the wax is more evenly solidifying from the bottom, up
yesterday‘s batch came out great, just needed some heat gun smoothing. today, day 2 of tests, i tried pouring the wax at a way cooler temp than the manufacturer said to (as i did yesterday) and it’s curing much more uniformly…so far
my candle mostly hardened and there’s a sinkhole around where the wick is, this is a pain in the ass but can be fixed with a heat gun
welcome to sinkhole city!
photo of some candles in periwinkle glass i am curing. they are mostly melted but the bottom and center with a mushroom-like top has solidified
testing a new wax and this mushroom structure as it’s curing is a pattern i have not seen before, sure hope this isn’t a huge pain in my ass later!!
Bugs rock core is back! in the background is an image of a wick test i was recording on camera of two of my first collection candles: a couple of rectangle eggs and a three-tier pillar candle with grass the sky and the sun.
the shop is back open with a couple core items to bring some warmth in these chilly, dark days 🍳☀️ bugsrock.online
Photo of me sitting on a chair like I normally do with one leg folded up in front of a pixel art watercolor painting I made of a nude woman
here i am with my latest pixel art painting
my hand propping up a square ceramic analog clock with a grid debossed pattern and i colored in the squares near 3, 6, 9 and 12 in blue. the clay is speckled and I did a dainty little wash of white underglaze to bring out the lines so it’s like grid paper was used. the bottom right corner is cut out as my little signature
i made this ceramic clock!
Photo of my hand holding up a pinch pot goblet cup thing I made like a tea cup with a big handle. The glaze outside is a dark blue and the clay is red. I had wax some shrimp like shapes as a pattern around it so the glaze doesn’t show in those spots the red clay shows through and the inside I glaze a different brown color that as it mixed with the blue turned a cool grayish tone
got to bring home my first hand-built, glazed dish!
abstract green wreath made from just slightly melted chunked up green glass that has been rounded out a LOT with glass flowers that are also rounded but not as much as the rest of the wreath. it's tied with a white ribbon
donut shaped glass object with swirling whites against alternately a bright opalescent red or a dark sparkly aventurine green. in between the white and the other color there's always some transparent, lending the pattern depth
organic rounded glass bolo tie made from a technique called frit displacement. in this case i used white glass under purple glass powder and clear coarse glass frit on top, so when the glass melts it pushes the powder around and creates a pattern that looks a bit like cell walls under a microscope, or scales
sparkling dichroic blue cufflinks that shift between turquoise and cerulean
Hi everyone! My last shipping day that's guaranteed to get to you by Christmas by USPS is Monday, so I'm going to do a handful of posts with some highlights of what's in stock at nora.jewelry.
Links to each product are in the thread.
i have so much gratitude for my customers and community! the shop is on break for the rest of december, and i have a lot of exciting things in the works for the new year 🕯️🌲💜
Photo of my pillar candle that’s three tears. There’s a square green tier for the grass a cylindrical sky, where I hand paint the white clouds onto a blue background and a yellow sun. This candle has been lit for a couple hours, and I have little toy animals all around it
today is the last day to make orders this year! if you’re looking for unscented candles that bring warmth and light to the indoors, “sky watching” is my signature 3-tier pillar with hand-painted clouds and - new - sky color options 🦩💜🦋🐦🦨
