Apparently all my exciting weight loss is happening in my butt. :/

A digital illustration of Godzilla silhouetted against a red and orange fire-colored background with his back spines all glowing blue as he blasts nuclear fire at whomever you would most like to have nuclear fire blasted at. Go ahead and make a wish. Jagged lettering on Godzilla’s back and shoulder, also glowing blue, reads ‘Maybe it will happen today’
Oh I am looking for friends playing Cozy Grove Camp Spirit to trade presents with. It’s mobile device only (eyeroll) but you can play it for free with your Netflix account. It’s very cozy and the amount you can accomplish in one day is limited so you won’t get sucked in too badly.
Some mornings the adhd wins. I definitely forgot both brace and cane this AM.
Me, reading: this is a great story. I would like to read some more of this.
Also me: oh shit, I’m the author.
George Lucas Saying “And then 'Senator Crappo' will be the guy who makes the taxes worse"
We should have never doubted this man
I am positive he did. He was a master of subtle little references.
My bedroom gets a ton of afternoon sun, and my office gets AM sun (of the mile high Colorado variety). It should be a good growing season for them all. Fingers crossed!
The last thing I probably need to bring home and repot is the pothos but the pothos doesn’t give a fuck. It’ll take whatever pot I feel like giving it and will be thrilled with whatever substrate (probably more potting soil).
The plastic planters are Naked Root (and are bottom watering!). Thanksgiving cactus has miracle grow potting soil (the parent plant is thriving in it so I thought why not). Monstera is in Gardenera Premium Monstera Potting Soil and everything else has Bonsai Jack: Jack’s Gritty Mix.
Three small decorative plant pots in front of a larger pot. The center has a sempervivum and either side has a small false onion.
The same small decorative pots and plants in front of a leggy monstera in a square green with a plant stake.
A small, very cut back aloe with two pups, in a rocky soil in a square green planter. Behind it are two Thanksgiving cactus in a different substrate but small versions of the same planter, one green and one pink. Also my messy kitchen island.
It’s spring and summer’s not very far, so it is the time of year when I haul my classroom plants home and do any necessary care, like repotting. Hopefully I’ve learned some more about plant care this year and these babies thrive over the summer. (Products in reply).
This made me giggle so hard.
I am so jelly of all the vaccines kids get these days honestly. Like, no chicken pox? Sign me up!
Because I think that if you are putting a child for whom you are responsible’s life at risk you ought to face a consequence for that , but at the very least by their teens your kid should be able to protect themselves against your bullshit.
Anyway I’m not a public health expert, but I am just putting that out there. I would love to figure out how we manage a ballot measure here in Colorado to let young people get vaccinated without their parents’ consent like a few other states have. If anyone knows how we do that, holler.
If you were born and vaxxed in the 60s through the 80s, there are a bunch of things that might impact your levels of immunity today, including a version of the vaccine that just didn’t work well and a version that required more than one dose. Better to be safe than sorry.
So I said “cool let’s do that,” and we did and I am really glad.
Once upon a time we lived in a magic kingdom called herd immunity where a few people being like “nah,” for whatever reason was no big deal.
We don’t live in that kingdom anymore.
A whole other thread about my pediatrician the Holocaust survivor at some point.
Anyway, no records. So I went to my GP and asked about a title test and she was like “honestly your insurance won’t pay for that but what they will pay for is a fresh round of the vaccine.”
When I went to grad school even though it was like, the pandemic and all of our classes were online, we had to provide our vaccine records. This was a problem, because I suspected my university no longer had my records and my beloved pediatrician, may his memory be a blessing, was long gone.
I don’t think it works like that. Unlike Republicans, the Catholic Church follows rules.
I was under the impression that sex goals were basically 1) have sex 2) don’t get pregnant (unless that’s the plan) and 2) avoid diseases.
WHO KNEW!? not me.
Which is why I nearly responded to a medical provider’s question about my sexual health goals with, “sorry is this a thing that is normal to want and possible to achieve?”
I do not think idea that my life should be spent working on a series of goals was something that was well-communicated to me and to this day I don’t really operate that way.
This might be a better plan than all the plants I regularly manage to fail to keep alive.
And here’s why I won’t be following your substack.
Did you know Buttondown will migrate your newsletter *for you*? It's amazing.
Rescued the old Google account with the MES glare 2012 photos but I dunno what for.
Circumstances in life have forced me to realize that all I’m basically good at is being a caregiver and as a person who didn’t reproduce, I don’t think I’m happy about this.
I’m so tired of not being good enough to be anything else.
That’s a point of debate for Catholics, certainly.
I assure you my mother is Catholic, and my grandparents were, and broke the rules all the time (particularly the one about birth control). You are vastly oversimplifying what it means to be Catholic.
