What a day! Did we mention that today was the day we removed invites from Eurosky accounts? Anyone can create an account straight away.

@pfrazee.com is the CTO at @bsky.app and one of the codesigners of the AT Protocol. He's going to talk about the Atmosphere's ideals about open computing, and how the team views tackling scale as core to the mission.
I put together a deep dive on a new category of software I'm excited about called Local-first. Check it out!
“Good protocol design requires balancing the tensions of ideology and practicality.” – @pfrazee.com
Fantastic read on federation, p2p, and software people actually want to use: www.pfrazee.com/blog/practic...
Build your own software, pick the features and interfaces that you like. Toggle to add or remove.
Build your own software, pick the features and interfaces that you like. Dashboard to edit your features and interfaces, code too.
Diffuse has turned into this malleable cooperative software environment and I wonder if this should be its own thing.
Not crazy complicated I guess, it’s basically a “software loader” that loads html/js/css and injects it into itself. That code is a set of “features” (logic) and an “interface”.
"using network architecture to solve issues of power distribution simply shifts bottlenecks rather than eliminating them. A decentralised protocol does not automatically produce decentralised governance, it also moves power to different, less visible places."

The cool folks from the Eurosky team just brought you a new site: eurosky.tech, portal to the Atmosphere.
I'd say it's the crispest explanation so far of what the Atmosphere brings:
1. one account
2. that works with a bunch of apps, and
3. your data from all apps is yours, portable, interoperable.
It’s too bad that ChatGPT Pulse is so expensive. It’s a wonderful product. Here’s an example of one of the stories it brought me this morning. It knows I’m traveling and that I had looked around Gràcia, so it researches places I might want to know about. No one else is doing anything like this.
Kind of opposite ends of the design space. Want public data to be difficult to lock in, difficult to censor, difficult to control? Spread it around as broadly as possible. Want data to be private? Touch as few computers as possible, for as little time as possible, ideally point to point.
(1/n) A question to ask when building or evaluating software: Is this a feature, a product, or a business?
Mistaking one for another leads to heartache for both you and your users (I speak from experience).
I couldn’t discuss this during #AtmosphereConf, but I’m thrilled to announce today that @eurosky.social is acquiring @bsky.app. This acquisition is made possible by a 1.5 billion euro grant from the European Union as part of the New Frontier program. 🦋🇪🇺
I wrote about my #AtmosphereConf experience. I hope it's as cathartic to read as it was for me to write.
Thank you, everyone, for this amazing experience. All I wish is that we had more time.
A quiet, sincere thank you to our contributors, sponsors, and the broader userandagents.com community for supporting us throughout our alpha-stage journey. ☮︎

Big news! Igalia (@igalia.com) is partnering with @eurosky.social to develop the next generation of the open social web. Let's stop waiting for others to fix our problems and start fixing them ourselves. We can just do things. More: www.eurosky.tech/s/Eurosky-Ig...
