my angry post about this case this morning is now an angry article

Roy Anthony Scott was in a mental health crisis and called 911 asking for help

Cops came and killed him, & now the Court is casting doubt on whether the cops can be held accountable for his death

lol I think about how WNBA players have so much to lose and face so much scrutiny, yet they continue to stand on business, whereas the most powerful man in basketball can't even take an iota of accountability.

It's actually embarrassing.

Meanwhile, ICE has not slowed down. They are just going about it quietly, which means the violence we saw before was performative, encouraged & unnecessary.

Ahahahaaa what? It still blows my mind people think that. It’s gotta be collective shame and sublimation. Ibid: who actually enshrined genocidal hatred in law and used those institutions to carry out genocide? Very sorry that happened to you.

I hear you! It didn’t work as a site for co-thinking and sense making for me, but did enable discovery — there were so many more scholars poets and interdisciplinary thinkers on twitter. This space skews very US UK CA and Aus — which feels impoverished despite the many great minds here.

I finished Brooke Newman's book over the weekend. It's a compelling read backed with many kinds of historical evidence, including analysis of paintings, which I enjoyed the most. No question of the royal family's involvement in slavery and how the Crown financially profited from the institution.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is preparing banks to collect citizenship data Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says the Trump administration expects banks to comply in collecting citizenship information from customers.

Undocumented immigrants contribute $97 billion yearly in federal, state, and local taxes. They paid $25.7 billion in Social Security taxes, $6.4 billion in Medicare taxes, and $1.8 billion in unemployment insurance taxes in 2022.

Bessent is galactically stupid.

Today, a lot of people will be talking about the manifesto that Palantir released. In addition to pouring over what those words mean, I invite you to ground the conversation in what Palantir has already done.

Its work with Israel and ICE show us exactly what it stands for.

Of course. There’s a reason why Black press were the only ones able to document them under Jim Crow — white newsrooms didn’t have access to Black funeral homes and also incited many of the lynchings. I’m noticing the new tactics in this era.

Is anyone tracking these apparent lynchings outside of the Black press?
