Pharmacists are my favorite part of social media. The content is incredible. I’ve been asking the platform to open it up. I’ve been told that this is coming. They told me that they’re still building it out first but the intention is to include pharmacists, extenders, & the international community

I am working on this! Stay tuned.

This is why I am gravitating to Roon because it’s meant to be for medical professionals only and not the general public. It’s crazy to want to read about escmid or idweek and be bombarded by all the drama and the bots. Hopefully it will be international and broader based medical community soon.

I loved this video format with the cc! This is so cool, and a great way to absorb the data

I have started spending a lot more time at Roon. It’s in the early phases but there are some interesting concepts that are being built there. Like spaces for discussion, rounds, curbside consults. I just miss all the friends I made on Bluesky.

How do you navigate a curbside?
Every ID doc knows the curbside consult 😅
Someone catches you in the hallway, asks you about a cx result, & suddenly you're giving advice on a pt you've never seen.
We discussed the pros, cons, and yes - the legal risks, right here👇

Excited to share a SoMe ID community that I'm helping build as one of their Founding Physicians: Roon

The ID community is launching today. The fragmentation between X and BlueSky has hurt ID social media. I hope this medically focused SoMe will improve this connection and collaboration

I’m really enjoying this platform w/o the noise that makes other platforms frustrating.

I am learning so much about other specialties & can’t wait to see what the ID community will bring (which launches today!) But I miss my friends so I hope you join!

Roon Round: What's in a name? Are we 'providers'? What are your thoughts and dispositions regarding this position paper from the ACP? Share your perspective alongside other physicians on Roon.

I enjoyed this conversation on Roon.
Got a little heated.
Folks are passionate about the word “provider”
Thoughts?

I just can’t imagine how you would be able to catch them! Maybe an ant. No way I could catch a fly.

And then how do you culture them? You swab their bodies?

HHS Gave a $1.6 Million Grant to a Controversial Vaccine Study. These Emails Show How That Happened Two Danish researchers faced accusations of “questionable research practices” as RFK Jr.’s top appointees made their study a “funding priority.”

I was wondering what kind of physician in the world could be responsible for such a heinous idea, which led me to this article. So terrible.

Wow, that’s terrible. I don’t know. I feel like it has to be a MBL, so maybe aztreonam-avibactam? Or maybe if it’s an oxa-48, cefidericol? Or maybe it’s one of those monster NDM with the pbp3 mutations?

I am going to call a friend @jgpharmd.bsky.social @juliejusto.bsky.social

We are genotyping and phenotyping as many of the isolates as we can get hold of (will be most). So the analysis of blaZ and cefazolin inoculum effect will follow once done. Can't wait to see what this shows!
Altogether there were 1341 participants in SNAP, so much larger than CloCeBa.

Cloxacillin versus cefazolin for meticillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus bacteraemia (CloCeBa): a prospective, open-label, multicentre, non-inferiority, randomised clinical trial Cefazolin constitutes an alternative to cloxacillin for the treatment of MSSA bacteraemia, offering non-inferior clinical efficacy and potentially enhanced tolerability.

Somehow I missed this in November! I thought snap put worries about BlaZ and inoculum effect to bed, but in the CloCeBa trial, in the BlaZ
Type A subset, cefazolin did not meet noninferiority. Thoughts?
