In Under Pressure by Dr. Lisa Damour, she reminds us to empathize while providing a different lens. For example, if your daughter doesn’t make the team, you might say, “while I don’t think this means you won’t get into college, sounds like today stunk.” #parentingbooks #parentingauthors

I’m about to record mine for How to Talk to Kids about Anything. From 10-4 each day. Hoping people will be listening to it while doing their chores! I agree, @beasuperdad.bsky.social, it’s a great way to make the time pass quickly. I listen to all kinds of things- books, Ted, podcasts on my walks.

Given I read several parenting books per week on everything from anxiety and talking about s3x to cutting, bullying, diversity, suicide and body dysmorphia, I welcome learning all about it!

Be warned, there's some fairly disturbing content that's hard to read at times, but I think it also is helpful in that it's really getting into some of our worst fears about raising boys. I appreciate how honest and introspective the author is, examine her beliefs from different angles.

I love Lisa Damour’s books. And she gives great interviews too on her info. She just came out with The Emotional Lives of Teenagers (also on my shelf). #parentingbooks #booksky

It really continues a conversation begun in "The Coddling of the American Mind" (Which I also highly recommend) about the harms of social media and un-fettered access to the internet especially for children and teens.

Great, thanks. And I imagine regarding both boys and girls (vs just girls like Lisa Damour’s Under Pressure).
