"legitimate concerns" have an overwhelming media presence

meanwhile the same is not afforded to asylum seekers

(or immigrants for that matter but I know this isn't about me)

NATIONAL
COAL MINING
MUSEUM
National Coal Mining Museum for En... ••• X
53m・
We are saddened to announce that, following further negotiations with UNISON, industrial action, largely affecting our Underground tours, is confirmed to take place from Wednesday 20 August to Sunday 14 September. During this period, the Museum will remain open and continue to share the important history of coal mining with our visitors.
The majority of our workforce of over 100 people are not in UNISON and do not support the industrial action. It is largely made up of the museum guides who deliver our underground tours. Only 28 UNISON members out of the 39 who voted in the original ballot, did so in favour of industrial action.
After further negotiations and serious consideration, mindful of the wellbeing of our wider workforce and our visitors, the museum proposed an increased offer to all staff of 80p per hour or 5%, whichever is the greater.
This would have equated to a pay rise of over 6% for many and is much higher than pay settlements in the public sector including police, local government, schools and other museums. Including last year's pay rise as well, this would have made a cumulative increase of 15% over two years.
That increased offer was rejected by UNISON, who refused to share our revised offer with their members to see if they wished to accept it.
As a charitable organisation, the museum, which relies on external funding and donations, continues to face considerable financial pressures.
As a Charity our Trustees feel this offer is fair and the counter claim by Unison, which equates to over 8%, for many, as simply unaffordable. It would jeopardise people's jobs across the organisation and threaten the long-term sustainability of the museum. That counter claim was suggested by UNISON as part of the negotiation process and was at no point agreed.
It is our intention to keep an open dialogue with UNISON, with the sincere hope that this offer along with the many additional benef…

You have to say, helmets-off to the lads at the Mining Museum for their approach to the 40th anniversary of the Miners’ Strike

Flags put up by the far right aren't intended to be patriotic. They are intended to intimidate. Seem some reporting of this implying the end justifies the means. It does not.

As always, if your business model is "there is only room for profit if we wildly underpay our staff" then you do not have a business model. If people won't pay airfares that will cover real wages, shrink or get government subsidies as the service you are. Why should FAs carry this "public good"?

This is what it looks like when a spineless @teamlabouruk.bsky.social government is more focused on addressing ‘legitimate concerns’ by racist knuckleheads than doing the morally right thing.

Craven voter chasing validates racists.

Human beings are not dirt to be "cleaned up". Irrespective of their immigration status.

People of colour throughout this country have to live with the social consequences of this hateful, dehumanising language. Irrespective of our immigration status.

We had nationwide racist riots 12 months ago.

FYI: I can’t find any mention of this in Portuguese media. There have been a few bits of information that quickly show up “everywhere” but that have no proper sourcing (the BBC here is not helping) attached and are nowhere that people can check

A large Sainsbury’s Store Front with the signs for the other shops laid out underneath. They are Argos Habitat Tu. sounds a bit Latin dunnit. lol eh

The fact they left out Specsavers leads me to think they knew what they were doing, and I’m probably just explaining their own joke to them
