Too many people are forced to work themselves to death because they can’t afford to go 6 months without income. So we have to sacrifice every other aspect of our lives just to earn money.

From the day they receive your completed application (which can take awhile to complete because your doctor also has to do their report) it takes up to 4 months to receive an answer and a lot of people are denied. This needs to be fixed. It’s legislated poverty

The *maximum* CPP-D payment is $1600. The govt knows that people on disability do not get enough to survive and they don’t care. The NDP is the only party that intends on fixing this. Both Liberals and Conservatives have nothing in their platform about this.

When the govt introduced CERB during covid, they set the amount at $2000 per month because they acknowledged that that was the minimum that someone needed to live.

Canadas disability benefits need a serious overhaul. There are way too many people who cannot wait 4-6 months to get their first payment, if they are even approved. And the amount you’re given isn’t even enough to live on
