UPDATE: just remembered Narmaya is relevant in the new GBF MSQ update. There are now four 10/10 narratives this year (I have not read a single word of the new GBF arc)

Incredibly funny that two of my favorite narratives of the year were 1000xResist and UNBEATABLE and both got put in a bundle for the latter’s release. Literally game recognize game

(My other favorite narrative of the year was Z.A.T.O. that game’s peak too. All three are 10/10s lowkey)

The game makes me feel like one of those Boom Boom Balloon toys, a dozen sharp points of interest needling at my brain. I have not felt like a piece of media just Refuses To Leave Me Alone like this in a while, and I think I’ll definitely treasure that feeling for a while longer

-and I love it as much as it hates me. I think about Fixer not even being there when Watcher dies. I think about her burning Watcher’s body anyways, saying she’ll never let anyone touch her again. About that quiet moment right after, where we see her hunched over at the train tracks, crying.

-Iris’ DNA, the way it becomes inescapable in a society full of her clones. Her mother, her, Youngest, the Keeper. At every turn, this fatal flaw presents itself once more.

I think about Watcher and Fixer, and I find I scarcely have words for it. It’s just The Most Mega Doomed Yuri Ever-

-came that there was, at this point, only one left watching over the Earth, we see Motherhood once again pushed to the forefront. I am forced to wonder if maybe the Keeper(s) took in a little of Iris, during their own communion.

I wonder about how this cycle of abuse seems to be written into-

-just like Clara suggested she should, even if it goes against what she might have wanted as a mother. Maternal martyrdom, I’ve called it in my head, and it definitely fits with what Kwan said, about Clara only knowing how to sacrifice.

I keep thinking about the Keepers. About how, when the reveal-

-the parts I find truly arresting are like… the characters, the dialogue, the dynamics, the language.

I can’t stop thinking about Iris’ mass communion convo with her mom. About Clara’s *pride* when she hears that her daughter never came back to her, too obsessed with “moving forward”-
