These projects have been immensely important to me, and I'm sorry to see them come to an end. But so long as gun violence remains a leading cause of death and grief in this country RAND will work to bring evidence and policy solutions to address it.

There are over 70,000 pre-K teachers working in public schools but they often fall through the crack between ECE and K-12 policy.
Check out my piece with Elizabeth Steiner and @jscannon.bsky.social on including their voices in pre-K policy discussions www.the74million.org/article/publ...
I'm happy to be part of this RAND team gathering important perspectives from pre-K teachers. More data to come from this new teacher survey panel!
ALA response to White House assault on IMLS To dismiss the mission of an agency that advances opportunity and learning is to dismiss the aspirations and everyday needs of millions of Americans. And those who will feel that loss most keenly live in rural communities. As seedbeds of literacy and innovation, our nation’s 125,000 public, school, academic and special libraries deserve more, not less support. Libraries translate 0.003% of the federal budget into programs and services used by more than 1.2 billion people every year. President Trump's executive order to eliminate the Institute of Museum & Library Services would have disastrous effects for communities nationwide. We call on all Americans who value reading & learning to reach out to their elected leaders.

A useful thing that academics and others can do is provide explainers to local media.
This is a nice example from my former @mccourtschool.bsky.social colleague Bill Gormley.

🌟 Did you know that most federal education data are archived in the @urbaninstitute.bsky.social Education Data Explorer? It's a great resource for research and analysis - and there's even a full API version linked in thread. 🌟

I wish people on the left would stop using “diversity hire” or “affirmative action” to describe folks like Hegseth. This reinforces the racist, sexist notion that diversity and affirmative action are promoting unqualified people, doing the right’s work for the.
