If nothing else, this inanity should make it clear to folks how far some of these "historic Seattle" groups have their heads up their asses. It was a frickin coal gasification plant! If they were around when it was made a city park they would've opposed it!

Redmond City Council is scheduled to formalize some code updates tonight. Among them, replacing language which included "animal drawn vehicles" with "micromobility devices" instead.
gorgeous day in seattle - joined the ballard link demonstration march from ballard to elliott bay park, then ended up walking down the waterfront to the international district for dinner before taking the train up to meet friends in the u district.
looking forward to a more sedentary day tomorrow!
hot take: honking at protesters while driving by at 30mph sucks. it's way louder outside the car than inside and it sounds awful by design!
if you want to show support, roll down your window, wave, cheer... be a human being!!
heading to this!
3. please get the onboard digital signs + stop announcements working! passengers who are used to riding the train may not recognize their stop from the inside of a bus on the street.
2. service alerts should also communicate shuttle bus frequency. nobody at the station (passengers or staff) knew how often the shuttles were running.
link replacement shuttle: 6/10
my main notes for @sound-transit.bsky.social @kccclaudia.bsky.social are:
1. the bus should stop and open doors at every station. that's the experience that train riders expect, and the bus should replicate that.
made it to dt redmond!
(e.g. our driver pulled into the wrong bus lane at marymoor)
yeah, idk. the vibe I'm getting is that staff (drivers, security) are undertrained for the shuttle procedures
(someone missed their stop at overlake village bc of this)
especially since the bus doesn't seem to be stopping unless someone pulls the cord
the next stop sign on the bus is also turned off, which isn't great
transit.app screenshot
also, the route shown in Transit.app doesn't match the route the bus is actually taking
or actually, it should have said BelRed, bc that's where trains are actually terminating, even though the headsigns on the trains say Spring District ๐ตโ๐ซ definitely still bugs to work out, but happy to be back underway
kinda weird that it said it was going to Lynnwood rather than Spring District as it was arriving - definitely confused at least one passenger
2 line shuttle approaching
it's here! pretty full
transit app screenshot - 11:07 showing "missed"
still waiting - the 11:07 never came. about a dozen people here now
shuttle schedule in transit app
never seen this before!
sign - 2 line shuttle to downtown redmond
currently stopped at spring district, waiting to proceed to belred. there was some kind of announcement from the train driver but we couldn't make it out (very quiet)
looks like I'm going to be trying a 2 line shuttle bus tonight
ok!!
Okay CTA. This is a good sign.
Well that was a dumb fucking waste of everyone's time
If this had been proposed at the outset, it would have resulted in a major advocacy campaign that likely would have resulted in a design change.
But it was done well after the ribbon was cut on the project, with little recourse for the actual people who use the facility.
Bar/restaurant owners, I'm begging you, don't make me create a Facebook/X/Instagram account to check your events schedule. I won't do it!!
