This is a fantastic thread that documents a ridiculous own goal. I suspect the only way to actually get improvements is for riders to make ruckus to their local politicians and for those politicians to then lean on SEPTA.
Yesterday I rode the D1 and D2 trolleys to see how CBTC performs in action. I had never ridden them before, so this thread is about their current state rather than how their state has changed since CBTC was activated.
My experiences may not be fully generalizable as my sample size is 1. 🧵
Anyway, that reminds me, I made a Goodreads account (mainly because Vicky has one, she's a reading machine): www.goodreads.com/user/show/19...
I picked up a copy of Memoirs of a Geisha at my library's book sale and this photo fell out of it dated 11/5/99. It's so interesting to think about: who are these people? What were they doing? Where are they now? I love the guy unintentionally photo bombing. Life's better with fun little mysteries.
We've finally come far enough in the century for it to be cool to name things after years. Think about it: The Blizzard of '05, The Blizzard of '10, the Blizzard of '15, they all just sound dumb. The Blizzard of '26, now that's a good storm name.
I almost forgot how good it is.
I suppose they waited this long to sue because they hoped a deal could be struck and there would be no gap in funding. This was obviously a mistake, especially when you consider the record the administration has in the courts lately. Should have sued right away, they might be getting paid about now.
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

While the pasty incels who work the federal agencies continue to churn out feeble, bloodless AI pastiches of Axis propaganda, here’s how a living breathing artist powerfully invokes design history. This is by illustrator Emily K in South Philly, a free poster-sized download on her website: →
Just stupid insanity.
They say thank you for the compliment!
We absolutely love our fish and we're so glad they seem to enjoy their new tank so much!
Finally there's Neville, our Pleco catfish. She's the oldest fish in the tank and doesn't bother with the Platys too much, usually being content to do her own thing, which is swimming around and eating algae. She stills adores zucchini, but also really loves the driftwood we added to the new tank.
This tells us that all the other fish we've had were at least six months old, probably older, because they were much larger than these two. They are very cute and have begun to swim up to the glass when we get near, and we're happy to see that they're turning out to be blue, just like their mom.
Hank and Stewart are our rapidly growing babies! Born at the beginning of August, they are named for our favorite brands of root beer because their father was Soda Pop (he had to be rehomed for bullying). Hank (boy, left) and Stewart (girl, right) are growing but are still smaller than the adults.
Jolene is a Molly fish, but she looks like the Platys. She is a scaredy fish, quick to hide when Starfire starts acting up or when anything startles her. She comes back eventually, usually first peeking out from inside the castle, which is quite cute. Her spotted pattern is very interesting as well.
Raven is the smallest adult Platy, but she tends to ignore Starfire's attempts at dominance and does her own thing. She's also very quick to swim over when we come to the tank, and seems to be the most chill of the fish.
Starfire is the largest Platy and decided she's the alpha of the tank. Once most of the food has been eaten she begins chasing the other fish away from the top of the tank. That's just how these fish behave. Her color is quite dramatic as well, we haven't seen another quite like her.
She gave birth while Vicky and I were on vacation (we're horrible parents we didn't even know she was pregnant) and two babies survived. She continues to be a very curious and friendly fish, often swimming over to the glass when we come close by, but also always investigating all corners of the tank
MEET THE PLATYS, AN UPDATE. As 2025 ends there have been some big changes in our fish tank. First of all, there's a new tank! Now 20 gallons, the fish love the extra space and all the live plants they can now swim among. Janey is now our oldest Platy, and she's a mom.
Behind a house in California, where the average price for a one-bedroom rental is about $2,100 a month, about a dozen people are living in a cluster of sheds and storage units with no running water or power. Rent is about about $600 to $800 a month.
This year's election made NJ a lot bluer. @njspotlightnews.org maps make that easy to see, with charts reporting results for every municipality www.njspotlightnews.org/special-repo...
In universe it's the first time it ever happens. The characters don't know if it will actually work, they should be nervous. The audience has the attention span to watch the cool laser charge while people push buttons (which is also cool). Pacing is hard I guess.
It suffers from the problem of trying to do a little too much in too many places in too short a time. There didn't need to be so many planets. Erso (hologram) talks over the firing sequence of the Death Star on Jedha. Even though the audience has seen the Death Star fire before, needed more build up
Thoughts on Rouge One after finishing Andor: The third act is still very good. It's why people like the movie. Well put together, well paced, just very enjoyable to watch. The whole cast does a great job, Diego Luna and Ben Mendelsohn especially stand out. (Good day to have SW takes I guess).
Aw, thanks Ben!!! 😁

I knew you'd want to know about this. Just gotta get the Criterion Collection to handle the release now.
