Fuck cancer. I lost my Ruby in December to it. I’m so sorry.

It will be such a mistake if this budget is implemented. This is Sim & ABC performing absolutely retrograde political theatre.
Monumental service you’re providing with this livesky—thank you!
Maybe @jennykwan.bsky.social would be willing to endorse?
Strong disagree. If this had actually been about political violence, why no mention of the assassinated democratic state representative, the attempted assassination of the Democratic senator, both of which happened in June — only 3 months ago. The Tyee’s reporting here is strong and factual.
I think it’s really notable that the same day Kirk was killed, there was another mass shoot and there’s been silence on it. To your point, IF this had actually been about political violence, they (and the democratic senator killed earlier this year, and, and) should have been mentioned.
I think the most important point in this article is the one buried at the back: Fox Carney did not run for office. She was not elected. What she closes to do in her time as a private citizen married to a public figure is, for the most part, her prerogative.
They really were. And they remain some of my favourite narratives—so congrats on the 10 year anniversary!
Ten years ago it was the summer my mum was dying; I found these books at the same time. They helped me survive that summer in a way I can’t measure and can barely articulate, and realizing it has been a decade is a bit stunning.
Anyway, thank you for writing them, they mean a lot to me.
Not a pet pic, but this song & animation has brought me immense joy recently: www.instagram.com/p/DJYvEg9sl6...
visualization of canada’s election results
“land doesn’t vote, people do” etc
A bad take; if a joke for April 1st, in incredibly poor taste. If a serious article, deeply irresponsible to platform and amplify.
Not ever conversation has two sides. This one certainly doesn’t.
Our predisposition to accept things as they are can restrict action on a wide range of issues. Journalist Melissa J. Gismondi fears this mindset will paralyze how some Canadians view an emerging national crisis: Donald Trump’s threats of annexation. thewalrus.ca/is-canada-treati...
Remember Canadians. This is the regime that Pierre Poilievre wants to model his own government after.
Pierre Poilievre’s “Canada First” approach to fighting US-imposed tariffs may sound promising, but @drmarkbourrie.bsky.social—author of Ripper: The Making of Pierre Poilievre—knows that “slogans won’t feed families or keep them warm.” thewalrus.ca/poilievre-finall...
Excellent idea

I don’t agree; the goal of this cabinet is to manage the transition to the new government, whoever forms it, and after the election it’s a guarantee that we’re see another reshuffle and portfolio reassignment. If WAGE remains subsumed by the Heritage portfolio, then I’ll be concerned.
I expect better from the Tyee.
This is an interim cabinet designed to operate until the election. WAGE has gone nowhere. This headline is fear-mongering of the kind I expect to see from less trusted sources.
Do better. Your readers trust you; live up to that trust.

The mountains today feel mythic. I’ve missed them. #vancouverbc #pacificnorthwest
The author and title is at the top of the image, Rebecca Elson, “A Responsibility to Awe” above an irregular red surface.

The title of the book, Sabriel, is at the top. Below is an image of a young woman with black hair holding a bell and a sword.
The author’s name, Tana French, and the book’s title, Broken Harbour, appear over an image on an empty white room with a wood floor.

Day 2:
A pale yellow cover with large black font. The title, Annihilation, font covers the entire page in all caps. A strange green flower grows from the lower right cover up through the title.
Okay, attempting this.
