All of Us Should Be Able To Agree With This…..
The administration knows how they can fill the gap TODAY--give faculty a fair contract. It's not hard. The path to normal operation is clear.
If your nurse doesn't show up, a staff accountant for the hospital cannot fill that gap.
How does an administration, who cannot (will not) meet students' academic needs, let alone listen to their daily emotional and physical needs, possibly minimize the impact by any other means than fairly negotiating with the people who have been hired to do all those things?
I'm assuming "UIS" in the quotation stands in for "the administration." This sounds like a threat. How exactly are they proposing to "minimize impact"? Bring in scabs? Use AI-generated teachers? Close MORE programs?
The Chancellor has reportedly openly laughed at their picket lines. The admin issued a statement: "UIS is committed to supporting students who are affected by the faculty’s decision to participate in a work stoppage and has plans in place to minimize the impact to them."
2017 may seem like a long time ago, but it doesn't to me because I was a graduate student on campus at the time. I marched with faculty at the time because this teaching-focused campus relies on faculty, along with support staff, to make this place run--period.
Tenure-track faculty at the University of Illinois Springfield, a regional campus of the U of I system in my hometown, authorized another strike, having just done so in 2017.
It's small; it's regional. But these are the issues that matter in cities and towns across the US.
This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.
2 HOURS of Industrial/EBM tunes to get you through your day. Track IDs are in the video. Thanks for listening 😊

They hate themselves so much that they need to watch the whole world burn if not one of them can be its singular, immortal ruler.
That is the saddest thought ever thunk 😅

Still plenty of time to get on the #industrialmusic RIVETHEAD raid train with @martyr-dj.bsky.social and other lovely folks!
It's so incredibly disappointing that Daniel Biss, who had an affair with a student while he was a professor, has beat young and vibrant Kat Aboughazaleh instead of withdrawing from the race
He should not accept the nomination
record labels / shops are blowing it by not being on bluesky. it may not be the biggest community but people on here are passionate and actually buy music. embedded links also help, i listen to way more music that other people recommend than i ever did on twitter, simply because it's much easier

A lot of do recognize it because we suffer in different ways because of that wastefulness. We keep being told there's no money for healthcare, childcare, education, food, the arts... but some of see where all the money is being spent: prisons, oligarchs, bombs...
Yep, that sounds right.
The propaganda tries to convince all of us that the US are the good guys, but a lot of us know better.
I'm glad context for this showed up in my feed a bit further down or else I would've felt out of the loop all day 🤣
And Lower Decks just shitposts an end run around the whole universe (and I love it) 🤣
Unless they're behind and then it's KEEP COUNTING
