Not trying to attack you here, I think I just have a stance that if someone or a group blocks me, its probably a group I'd not want to see anything from anyways. So I move on, and they move on and the world keeps going. Because at the end of the day its just social media.
It's all the same dude. I'm sure you're chill, but not everyone is going to accept everyone even if it's a better world when we do. But the reality is blunt. There is no pleasing everyone so the best thing to do is be okay with yourself, and when someone isn't okay with that, then find better people
That's some pretty all or nothing thinking there and pretty far off from what I said.
With that context, being able to put the power in the hands of the people in charge of the space, is a lot better than the high volume chaotic list system here.
I think if you just don't wanna be blocked outright though, then just don't go online.
I think that being able to follow everyone is not anyone's right in any platform. If you want to avoid being blocked and gated because an instance doesn't like you for whatever reason, then the internet ain't it. They should be able to have the power to manage their space.
Blue sky is literally one big tech-capital know-how with more money to keep this instance up than I can probably fathom. In a federation model that money is distributed accross multiple smaller and cheaper instances. I run my own single user instance and it's really not that bad.
I agree it sucks. Its a lot worse than instance suspension on fedi since the source of truth is incredibly inconsistent from list to list.
All of this sites pseudo federation features are much worse than having actual federation.
The same is true here with being added to large block lists.
Its more of a feature in the absence of real federation, but the outcome of no longer being able to follow large sections of users if you're added to one is the same.
