An Octopus cyanea harrassed by territorial damselfish. The octopus is a male who has his eye on a female off screen. He is unwilling to back away but a little hesitant to approach (partially due to looming humans nearby). The damselfish are not happy with an octopus being indecisive on their rock

Giant Pacific Octopus transits through a narrow tidal pool in Oregon.
Painting of two wood pigeons nestling into each other, eyes shut. Dark background.
I painted this loving pair from a photo with kind permission from the photographer, Ernesto Orellana. I now have another commission to paint two wood pigeons in different pose. If any of the brilliant photographers I follow have a photo of a Woody I could use, ideally two, I'd really appreciate it 😊

A printed black and white picture of an algae octopus colored with marker. By SSJulian
It’s my birthday! I decided to relax by coloring one of the pages of my own octopus coloring book. Can you see the algae octopus?
This seafloor community, 1,073 meters (3,520 feet) beneath the Ocean surface, was filmed during the #ArgentinianDeepSeeps expedition. Scientists were searching for cold seeps. While exploring, they observed beautiful scenes like this and stunning biodiversity along the country’s continental shelf.

When I post a crab photo, people with crab icons like it.
When I post squid, the squid people show up.
And for sea slugs… the sea slug people.
…am I underwater or something?
This swimming crab is called “Menaga Gazami” in Japanese… which literally just means “long eyed swimming crab.”

Not sure about the ID for this squid. When I get it I'll share. @schmidtocean.bsky.social dive 364 #visioningcoralsea #MarineLife
A California two-spot octopus (Octopus bimaculoides) squishing itself down in a reef. Because of how it is squishing itself down, it almost looks flat, whit its head especially not protruding like how an octopus's head normally does. The octopus is mostly beige with some thin black lines that look like cracks in stone. It has orange on its suckers, around its eyes and in some spots. It has some black on the bottom of its arm. One of it's eyes spots is visible, a large black circle with a blue ring. It is surrounded by sea urchins and a sea anemone.
Aw, man... my octopus deflated!

Indo-Pacific Blanket Octopus (Tremoctopus gracilis) with its webbing tucked away. It has wide, rotund mantle, thick arms and round black eyes. The iris of the eye is orangish brown. The rest of its body ranges from blue, to lavender, to purple to darkish beige.
A female Indo-Pacific Blanket Octopus (Tremoctopus gracilis) swimming in black water. Its arms are spread out, showing off its webbing that iridescent blue, green and orange. The protagonist, Mae, is looking up at a war memorial statue. She's saying, "War is some bullshit."

All ink, no stink!
Squid ink is a natural, dark-viscous fluid primarily composed of melanin pigment, mucus & water — like a deep-sea smoke screen for a hasty getaway. These ink-blob shapes are called pseudomorphs. Filmed during #OBVI #LivingBioreactors expedition w/@schmidtsciences.bsky.social.

The overturned Calappa hurriedly buries itself back into the sand.
In Japan, when we feel embarrassed,
we say, “I wish the earth would swallow me up.”
Luckily for a Calappa, it can dive into the sand even when there’s no hole to hide in 🦀,,
