Unusual material choice for this book. I was given a wallpaper sample. It's a shame that the design is printed against the paper grain direction, the book won't stay closed.
My first attempt at using a press and wood chisel for trimming. Happy with the results.

A book with nicely trimmed edges
I moved away from York a year ago, and your photo made me home sick, in a good way. Lots of lovely memories I'm revisiting. Cheers
Happy new year, everyone. My goal for this year for book binding will be to try using leather, and attempt a replica of one of the early gospels. It'll be a real achievement if I pull it off, considering my current ability
Custom book, showing off a floral covering paper and a red bookbloth quarterbinding

Im putting up all the books I've typeset on Patreon on a free tier, if anyone wants to read books and bind some classic literature. You'll get a Pdf for reading, Pdfs ready to print, and the InDesign files so you can make changes.
Enjoy.

Twin 2 giving off today's vibes
I think if I tried to replicate this, my thick ass awl would obliterate the book. Is there a tutorial you could point me to on how this was made? It looks really fun
Fed through book cloth, not paper, sorry
If I was to do it again, I'd make sure to print on a3, so I can wrap my a5 book all the way around two sheets and the edge of the book. For this attempt there wasn't enough cloth for the back, so I ended up using some of my end paper to cover the rest.
No real tutorial, I just fed through an a4 sheet of paper into the inkjet, and it took the cloth just fine. One thing you need to consider is that the ink isn't waterproof, so you might want to cover the book with a clear spray finish just in case.
Just checking this out for the first time! Here's a journal I made, it's available for sale on Etsy.
@kevinblades.com glad you are on here, I love seeing what you are up to. Hope you are well
That's really well done. I need to experiment more with multiple threads.
Every time I have made a coptic bind the cover has been too loose. It's a shame, like your book, I think they can come out really pretty
My favourite book bind yet, finished today

This was me learning the lesson that I shouldn't use 220gsm paper for printing books. These have the same content
Here was the first notebook I made that I thought was giftable. There was about half a dozen before this one
I'm using bluesky to document my progress in bookbinding. Here's my first book, made in August
