Daydream Observatory assembles a wide array of sonic landscapes—from lush ambient environments, to skittering percussive tumult—into a kind of character alignment chart of things light, dark, wholesome, and exasperated; contemplating the everyday balance of tragedy and comedy.
“Stone Eater” presents the harder side of Evans’ frenetic drum-driven improvisations. It’s a tumultuous and explosive two-minute sprint that breaks through the late-capitalist doomscrool with a comically passionate embodied catharsis.
