I literally don't understand how we just go on like normal - running code, writing abstracts, contacting colleagues with the world in literal ashes right now. It's one horror show after another and any kind of "science" I might produce seems so meaningless in the face of death and destruction.

Between 1914-1988, the most common name for an orangutan in a US or European zoo was "Jiggs", with at least 11 individuals named this between 1927-1966! More orang zoo history to come from @langurlover.bsky.social and Dr. Alexandra Kralick!

Can't teach a pupper class (Canid Evolution) without wanting to draw some. This is an Ethiopian wolf (Canis simensis) and I just love their build and coloring. They are highly endangered and rare to see. I would LOVE the chance to photograph some someday ❤️
