I just have a two-year-old and a busy job and decided social media was taking up too much of my attention! But now the Harry Potter trailer has dropped so I logged on to see @stephenkb.bsky.social's takes

This would offend Unionists much more! Republicans are still very pro-PLA
Soon to be automated!
Looks like a couple of buildings have collapsed above some Delhi Metro tunneling work

Top White House advisers signals that firing Powell maybe is not out of the question as the admin begins to probe these accusations around Fed renovations. Hassett said it would depend potentially on what Powell's answers turn up www.nytimes.com/live/2025/07...
🧵 We're currently building a mixed income building in Charlotte where 30% of units are financed by LIHTC.
I'm starting a running list of requirements in the LIHTC units that are superior to conventional market rate apartments and thus drive up cost: 1/
Worst value for money project in transit history?
Yeah this is the real mess of the situation
Thankfully the hydrogen trains are zero emissions. Well, zero emissions at the tailpipe, it's about 4x as much CO2 as diesel when measured from source. But what matters is that the trains themselves can't be blamed.
I really hope Newark DE has a Penn Station as well, NEC station names aren't confusing enough yet IMO
British Rail used to call this "the sparks effect"
Caltrain ridership bar graph showing a strong increase in June 2025
Electrification + all-day frequency + return to office + freeway jams = Caltrain ridership ↗️
I agree we would win PA more often than not without someone like Fetterman. But (a) I think we need to win PA every single election if we're going to hold a Senate majority, and (b) I think we need to win places well to the right of PA, and that means being OK with people even to Fetterman's right
I think it's both - the increasing number of steps that government and civil servants have to jump through is the main reason for the inability to deliver. Political discretion, but governmental straitjacketing
That's a very silly way to look at the world
Every time I see Brescia mentioned somewhere, I check if they mention the automated light metro. Sadly not, this time.

A lot of the most right-wing Congressional Dems these days were Sanders supporters. I think it's not entirely surprising, there's a nexus of populism there
Don't get me wrong, that stuff is anathema to me. But we will never hold a consistent Senate majority, let alone a 2/3 majority, without people like Fetterman, and even further right
I bet a lot of them do! And it's not this alone, it's lots of ways he distinguishes himself from the rest of the party. Things I, personally, dislike a lot, but have got him a reputation for not being a "typical Democrat"
There are lots of swing voters, though
Yeah that's probably true, and while PA may be winnable with someone to his left, it's probably not good for the party
This is his time.
The Importance of Being Idle is one of my all-time favourites
My extremely Trumpy in-laws love Fetterman. This kind of thing is a great way to get re-elected in a purple state! Sorry, but it's true.
I am certainly intrigued, since I haven't seen any signs of them installing validators at rail stations for pay-as-you-go.
But it looks like FAREPAY cards can hold *tickets* as well as value, so maybe you can buy/load e-tickets onto your card, and when the conductor scans it they take an e-ticket?
Gorillaz was fantastic (first album I bought!) and maybe has more of a legacy long-term because its genres (hip-hop and electronica) are more relevant these days. But man Oasis has some bangers
Acceleration a lot better! Top speed, probably 90-100mph, I think 100 is the highest third-rail speed in the UK
Our staff is on the ground supporting families. Many workers-including US citizens, were held by federal authorities at the farm for 8 hours or more. US citizen workers report only being released after they were forced to delete photos and videos of the raid from their phones. 4/
Yeah but it's Scotland's capital, which is why the route gets so much focus in the UK
