Kann ich gut verstehen, das ist aus meiner Sicht aber eine sehr stark persönliche Komponente. Wenn der Wille da ist, können auch einfache Nutzer durchaus komplexere IT-Zusammenhänge erkennen und Aufgaben ausführen. Die meisten wollen nur nicht 😕

Just try to use an OL8 on the target. Current versions of Ansible require python3.11 but with that you can‘t use dnf module as this works only with the default python3.6 …
The problem is not on my ansible control host, that is managed perfectly by homebrew. It‘s more that it‘s hard to get the deployed code running on the remote machines which might have incompatible versions running.
Maybe if I was using python on purpose that might be a good answer. But I don't use it in the first place, it's just a dependency, I shouldn't bother about python versions and modules whatsoever.
python is such a mess. Trying to use a recent Ansible version with some OL8 systems for management of rpm packages with the dnf module and it fails miserably using standard installations …

Der Charme für mich wäre da, relativ einfach sämtliche C Libraries nutzen zu können, was den Punkt Ökosystem etwas entschärft.
Ich bin davon überzeugt dass jeder ITler C können sollte, aber ich würde heute kein neues Projekt mehr damit anfangen. Kennst Du Zig? Sieht auch interessant aus.
Darüber habe ich auch schon nachgedacht, bleibe aber erst mal bei Go. Time is money …

Jo, das ist ja immer das Ding. Im Server-Umfeld gibt es genügend große Unternehmen die zur Entwicklung beitragen und das Linux Ökosystem ist Microsoft in dem Bereich weit voraus.
Im neuen Blogbeitrag berichtet @isdba.de aus der Praxis, wie der Aufbau eines Exadata@Azure-Clusters per Code fast an einem unscheinbaren Parameter gescheitert wäre und wie sich das Problem am Ende überraschend einfach lösen ließ.
