We hear a lot about the Strait of Hormuz but never anything about the Gay of Hormuz, and I think that says a lot about us.

Cap'm's Log: I thought the stars had finally aligned, and that I'd be able to stream tonight. Unfortunately, Birdie is sick and is in need of special medical-grade snuggles and surgical scritches.

Please send her some extra special love if you have some to spare.

A failed 3D print of a turntable bed, about 95% complete. Part of the turntable support broke off in a way that I don't really know how to recover from.

Cap'm's Log, Engineering: 18 hours and 35 minutes into an 18 hour and 51 minute print, a vital piece of the structure broke off and cannot be recovered (at least, I don't know how to recover from this).

I always assumed it was like loosening a necktie or unbuttoning the top button of a dress shirt: it loosens things up, promotes better airflow, and reduces movement restrictions.

Also, it (ostensibly) looks cool af.

Does anyone else set off a 3D print with the intention of just walking away and letting it go, but instead you become mesmerized by the machine (or the video of the machine) and then suddenly you're halfway through a 9-hour print and you're not sure when the last time you blinked was?

Very much like "The wow starts now" for Vista. "Wow" was very much my reaction to both the product and the ad campaign, but it was definitely not the type of "wow" they were going for.

You know what seems really unrealistic about Star Trek?

The relatively consistent computer UI and UX over such a long period of time.

I hate how often OSes and Apps change their look or feel these days. Especially their damn icons. Things feel so inconsistent.
