His arrest warrant prevented him from visiting South Africa, despite our Government wanting him here. Because we are ICC signatories and would have been obliged to effect arrest; and he wasn’t taking that chance.

A Palantir or seeing stone from Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, revealing the evil power that has mastered the entire set of seven stones - rendering them all untrustworthy.
The name Palantir tells you all you need to know. In LOTR, a set of seeing stones connected in such a way that a user who is powerful enough can control what other lesser beings will see and believe. Do not trust anything that appears there!
He has stained the history of the USA forever. Just because millions of Americans could not see beyond their own pockets and petty culture wars, leaving the entire system open to subversion by oligarchs and autocrats at home and abroad. Has anything been learned by these voters and bystanders?
Looks like cities further from the frontline also need protection of buses? There have been so many disgusting sick attacks on public transport
Do we need to talk about Kevin?
Incompetent as an American patriot perhaps. As a Russian/Chinese asset, however - unparalleled in history. He’s a one person sleeper cell and Americans sleepwalked him into the White House…twice.
Curious about Becerra so looked up this speech from last year, to Berkeley graduates in public health. What a warm, genuine guy. And not boring or gray!! “Grit, guts and game”, being real with people, honouring others, aware of history. A worthy leader for California. youtu.be/AqixaEoNn6Y?...
Oh yes, the war that was being waged by “separatists”.
If you think the nuclear-powered supercarrier USS Gerald R. Ford is the most powerful ship in the world, you are wrong. It's actually the German cruise ship Mein Schiff 4 (pictured), which successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend
Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?
They do. And whilst this repression of speech in Qld is probably not the best example of greatness, I’m mindful that just a few months ago, Bondi experienced globalised intifada. And “from the river to the sea” is basically the whole of Israel. (The sea that river runs into is the Dead Sea BTW).
The same one where they just spent 3 days and great expense putting tank fires out? Slava Ukraini.
I appreciate the Jewish perspective and will keep it in mind. But let’s not forget Jesus’ specific accusations against pharisees of his day. Nazis like Hegseth are easy to identify as sociopathic, but those who fail to admit that “there but for the grace of God go I” should not be trusted either.
Not outraged, just interested in effects of tying a worldview to scriptures, and the value of being able to address this. I am not familiar with “butthurt” but it sounds rather disgusting so maybe that’s my cue to say thank you for responding to me, it was helpful but I think we are done.
Nope. Persecution is all on Christianity in its function as a hegemonic culture. The Jewish people I have known personally have almost always been open minded and tolerant. And it’s Christianity that sets out to convert people of other faiths while having short historical memory for harms done.
💯
Very well said. If there is anything remarkable about Ukrainians, that should be an even stronger motivation to protect every single one of them from genocidal attacks. Not an excuse to let them fight on alone.
Ukrainian resilience should be seen as a survival mechanism, not some magical teflon that causes Ukrainians to be impervious to the effects of a war of EXTERMINATION.

Not central or prominent... The antisemitism of the New Testament is also not central teaching, or ought not to be, but it exists and must be acknowledged; just as ahistorical & hostile polemic about Jesus exists in the Talmud. None of it is helpful in understanding each other’s beliefs & practices.
Talmudic texts that depict “Ben Stada” as the child of a Roman soldier and Mary as a liar; later, a blasphemer and sorcerer who led people astray and deserved to be hanged. Hostile - but not comparable to antisemitism in any way. Just lacking the respect that the Q’uran has for Jesus as a prophet.
No, it’s not. That’s not ok
“Don’t mention the war”!!
"The culture secretary, Lisa Nandy, said in parliament on Thursday that the gambling industry 'brings joy to a lot of people'. She said: 'The industry as a whole brings positive benefits to the United Kingdom.'
Labour thinks gambling brings joy and positive benefits?!?
Yes. Only to shareholders.
Gambling does not bring “joy”. It merely offers dopamine hits and (for some), narcissistic supply that raises the risk of addiction. Rewards are unreliable but habitual gamblers can count on anxiety, disappointment, low self worth, debt, ruined relationships, and not infrequently, suicidal despair.
So we not only have centuries of anti Semitic exegesis to overcome but also the texts themselves. And not only references to “Pharisees” but also to “the Jews” in eg Gospel of John. OTOH, what is the approach of modern Jewish scholars to offensive traditions about Jesus’ life and origins?
Interesting and thought provoking. There is plenty of nuance there. Jesus is called Rabbi, his ministry is fully Jewish, & Paul identifies as a Pharisee. Pharisees seek out his teaching…Yet Jesus’ impassioned attacks on them remain as key Gospel narratives & form a background to his violent death.
Prosecuted?? This doos praat kak as usual.
“Nice little contingent you’ve got there…”
“Several days’ worth of military personnel”.
