Marker disposition protocol for the three-dimensional description of the Neutral Body Posture. The anatomical markers were positioned on the following anatomical landmarks: spinous processes of every second vertebrae from the 7th cervical to the 3rd sacral (markers 31–41); posterior superior iliac spines (PSIS) (markers 27, 28); left and right ulnar heads (markers 20, 21); 2nd and 4th metacarpal heads (markers 22, 24 and 23, 25); 5th metatarsal heads (markers 29, 30); xiphoid process (marker 26). The eight two-marker sticks pointed to acromions, humeral condyles; femoral lateral condyles; lateral malleoli. The three-marker stick was mounted on a bite-board for the identification of head position and orientation.

Early 2000s terrifying graphic aside, this study nicely shows the Neutral Body Posture in space, when effectively no gravity is applied. I find it interesting that it has all the joints a bit bent. Oddly lines up with how my limbs end up when I sleep. 🧪
